Sooo… shocking as it may seem, especially if you know me, we have a barn. Hashtag- “Project Hayes Dream Barn” to be exact! A full on horse stall barn with not a single farm animal to our name. We do have a dog and a rather large one at that! But with zero point zero zero intentions on adding any additional animals to the mix, we didn’t really have a need for a barn. You see, Mark always wanted land. Land, land, acreage, acreage, I think that’s all I’ve heard over the last ten years or so. It was number one through one hundred on his dream home list. So as with most homes in the 8+ acres range, we got the whole shabang. A barn, a pasture, the fencing and even a horse ring. I think that’s what you call it. Basically a large dirt circle in the backyard. We’ve come a loooong way since then. Let’s just say that last Summer we had 72 pallets of sod installed. Yes, 72. I will give you a full backyard tour soon but today I am sharing our barn makeover!
After going back and forth on what exactly we should do with this large covered space, I eventually won and “we” decided to create an entertaining space. He got his nine acres so at least give me the barn… right?!? Mark wanted to use it store the lawnmower, his Jeep and all of that nonsense. But that just sounded like a rather large eyesore to me. Hehe. So we spent last Summer transforming this space into our Spring/Summer/Fall hang-out spot. With lots of pieces we brought from our previous home and then some visits to our local HomeGoods store, the space finally came together! Here’s the full before/after tour!
