The Most Whimsical Hallway of All
Disclaimer: This is a sponsored blog post. Everything I write and post is 100% my opinion. If I don’t love it, I don’t post it. Simple as that!
Just when you thought I couldn’t infuse another ounce of color and pattern into our home, our upstairs hallway finally got a little lovin’! As I mentioned in “Our Two Story Living Room Reveal”, the element of surprise in design is one of my favorite parts of any project. I sometimes think the smallest nooks, hallways and accent walls can pack the most punch and even work to pull an entire home together. Adding colors, prints or wallpapers seen elsewhere in the home into these areas creates cohesion and harmony throughout a space.
Although our upstairs hallway isn’t necessarily small, it is a randomly shaped area with lots of doorways and foot traffic. It can also be seen from most every main living space in our home. I’ve taken my dear time on this area, adding pops of fun here and there along the way. First was paint…
BEFORE (after the entire inside was painted)
Then came new flooring…
BEFORE (after new flooring was installed)
Next up was the wallpaper…
BEFORE (after wallpaper was installed)
THE PROCESS
Although the wallpaper and silhouettes made huge splashes of fun in the hallway, it still seemed a bit baren for me. On a journey for inspiration I found this AMAZING rug at Lavender Fields Shop…
Dash and Albert Bohemian Wool Woven Rug
And the re-design was on! I absolutely LOVED the colorful print and I felt that the geometric design and smaller repeat was the perfect print contrast to the wallpaper. Lavender Fields Shop is one of my first stops when I am on the hunt for the perfect rug! As I’ve said before, I think that rugs are one of the best ways to add some color and pattern to your home. Especially if you’re afraid to take the color plunge but want a fun pop of something whimsical and unique! Next, I found this awesome table on sale at HomeGoods and these super fun Artwork pieces. So check out our hallway today!…

My father in maw lost his wife/high school sweetheart on Christmas Day to cancer. When they were in high school they always starred at the stars and mentioned that they both loved the constellation Orion. That is what made them fall in love. They always looked up at the stars at night and told the story over and over again. This Year, I adopted a star in her name in the constellation Orion. I wanted him to know she will always be shining down on him. I can’t wait to give it to him.

Without a doubt, I’m most excited for my son, Wy, and I to give papa(my dad) the “Click ‘n Dig Key Finder(Color-Coded Remote & Six Colored Receivers!”) Although, it doesn’t seem like a lot. Yet, in light of his recent diagnosis of Dementia, it’s gonna be the gift that keeps on giving… for him, yaya(my mom), Wy, and me. Thank goodness for inventions like these! They may be a techie’s dream, but in my opinion, they’re just a dream come true. Did I happen to mention that I order myself a set, too? I mean who isn’t forgetful!
As always, Brittany, much obliged for your blog posts; always look forward to reading them and finding out what space you’ve added your eclectic touch to!

As always, I love your home! My husband’s maternal grandmother just passed away this year, which left his mom inheriting all of her late father’s Vietnam/Korean war military paperwork/medals. My husband and I are working hard to make her a shadow box in his memory for Christmas. I know how meaningful these pieces are to her and we want to showcase them. We can’t wait to give it to her!

One of these hand-crafted items is a blessings/happiness jar for my best friend. The jar is filled with inspirational, motivational, or sweet messages for her to read throughout the year – 1 per week. I hope this small gift gives her a reason to smile.

I am most excited about a gift I had made for each of my two, adult children. I had some of their childhood t-shirts made into a blanket. I have been saving sports shirts, school shirts or shirts that I know have meaning to them. One of my son’s tee shirts was from the first year he played soccer. He was 4 years old. They don’t have a clue that I have saved these shirts and I’m sure many of them have been forgotten. They were stored in boxes in my closet for years. I can’t wait to watch them open their present and remember those fun growing up years.
