Gooooooodddddd morning!! Long time no talk! I wish that meant I had huge house updates, but that is unfortunately not the case. If you have ever walked through the reno process then you know about all of the speed bumps along the way. SO, all of that to say, things are happening but it is still slow and I don’t have a bunch of pretty pictures to share YET.
The painters are scheduled to paint the exterior Thursday (SCREAMING). I decided to go with “Off Black” by Farrow and Ball for the brick and “Pure Black” by Farrow and Ball for the trim and accent pieces. I will be sharing progress on that next week!
They are currently insulating the interior walls as we speak which means that drywall will be installed Friday. I might actually break down and sob when the walls go in. The light at the end of the tunnel is starting to get brighter and brighter!
For today, I figured I would share the kitchen game plan since there isn’t a lot to show. My design goal is to maintain the integrity of the time period that the house was built. I really want the house to feel like it has been around for a while down to every last finish.
Kitchen Inspo…
Since the exterior will be super dark, I want to carry some of the darker tones into the interior. Cabinet color is “Down Pipe” by Farrow and Ball and I want to do a white based counter top with lots of dark veining. I also decided to go with the matte black Café appliances.
A couple of scattered mood boards to combine textures and colors…
I feel like one of the biggest questions, in regards to the design side of AW, people ask me is “how do you describe your style?” and I have always had such a hard time putting words to the vision in my brain. I was chatting with one of my best friends, Rebecca (who now happens to be apart of the AW Design team), a couple of weeks ago about the house and we conjured up the most ridiculous description of my style. It honestly couldn’t be anymore accurate.
“British Pub, Romantic, Hunting Lodge”
I was laughing so hard my stomach hurt but it kind of hit home. I love a darker, moodier design with lots of texture and a few little shocking elements.
A quick peak at the renderings for the kitchen…
There was an old brick stove under all of the plaster that I was determined to include in the design of the kitchen and it turned out exactly like I was expecting. The cabinet color will be a good bit darker, but I feel like this is pretty good representation. I have zero space in the house for a pantry so I decided to go with these floor to ceiling locker style cabinets.
I cannot WAIT to share paint and updated pictures. I have been so encouraged by so many of you guys and I can’t explain how much it means to me. This has been a wild ride, to say the least!
