Good morning! Happy Tuesday! Ab and I are sitting here knee deep in all things AW Design and I am sooo excited to start sharing more and more with y’all! We are currently working on quite a few design projects ranging from simple room updates to full house design! Interior design has of course always been my jam so getting to finally really dive into doing so for others is a dream come true!
Today’s design project began as one big space planning challenge… one of the aspects of design I actually love most! A long, narrow space with a large doorway at one end and windows alongside an exterior jutout on the other, this keeping room was a wee but tricky to say the least. They’d had a tv at one end with an oversized chair right next to it and a sofa at the far opposite end. Here’s a peek at the space BEFORE…

Our Thoughts…
The very first thing we tackled was of course the furniture layout. With eight kids and a small space, optimizing seating was a MUST! I chose to flip the TV and seating arrangement using a sofa table to create the look of a uniformed wall which allowed for easier TV viewing and lots of extra seating. Here’s a peek at the plan and the beginnings of our design ideas…
The Plan

When it came time for the design plan, the two goals were to help make the home more cohesive and to play into the history of the old home. Which once again, y’all know I LOVE! To unify the kitchen into this space, I chose a gorgeous grey wallpaper with amazing historic vibes to bring the grey from the kitchen backsplash into the space. I also chose to accent the wallpaper with a trim color the same as the wall color in their formal living room. From there, we chose a camel colored sofa to accent the blue and some fun, kid friendly rug options!
