I am beginning to think that we invest in all of the wrong things. We spent eight years with the worst mattress ever and literally our entire 16 1/2 years of marriage with cheap bed sheets. Okay, obviously not the worst thing in the world but considering all of the other things we spend money on… why not invest in what we spend at least 1/3 of our lives doing… Sleeping! After our really good mattress purchase earlier this year, I have really started to think more about investing in things that we really use. As a designer I am always about the visual but a dreamy bed situation has recently hit #1 in my home priority list! And let’s bed honest… we do a lot more in bed than just sleeping. From late night blogging to snuggling to watching a movie with my girls. Our bed is our haven.
For the last ten years I have struggled with intense insomnia. It all started when Addison was a baby and I literally began to dread going to bed. She was an extremely fussy and difficult baby so I just knew every single night that I would be waking up every hour or so rocking and walking and feeding our very first little angel. Add on hormone changes and who knows what else and I began a downward spiral toward years of sleepless nights. Although much of it was hormonal, I also learned that a whole lot of it was mental. It took me years and years of trying everything from medications to bedtime routines to finally get a good grasp on the problem. I finally learned that putting myself in a good mindset was key to a good night’s sleep. A relaxing bedtime routine, a really good book and a cozy bed that I look forward to snuggling up in every night.
So let me introduce CloudTen Sheets… A totally different bedding company. A company that creates responsibly made and absurdly comfortable sheets. CloudTen is a movement away from the hectic go-obsessed society we’re forced into from birth. Giving us a place to not just sleep, but hit snooze… relax…hangout… Luxury bedding does not come cheap. Whatsoever. So maybe that is why I never took the plunge and splurged on good quality bedding. I also genuinely thought it took maybe $300-$400 minimum to score a really good set of sheets. The kind that are thick but not hot. The kind that don’t feel scratchy. The kind that wash well. And the kind that make you look forward to going to bed! CloudTen is different and we genuinely LOOOOVE our new set of Amora Sateen sheets…
