DISCLAIMER FOR PHOTO ABOVE… THE ENTIRE FACADE IS ABOUT TO BE COMPLETELY DEMOLISHED AND REBUILT! EEEEEEKKKK!!!
Eeeeeekkkkkk!!!! So so so incredibly excited to be sharing some really huge and really exciting and really scary news with all of you. Addison’s Wonderland is about to be in 3D… in real life… you will be able to walk inside and say hello! Yep, Addison’s Wonderland is getting a BRICK & MORTAR!!!! And I could not possibly be more excited. I know… I have said excited three times already BUT I am seriously oh SOOOOO excited. For the last 8 years, from the start of Addison’s Wonderland with my bedding line to my blog and now my online boutique, I have done it all from the confines of our own home. I have created and planned and designed and schemed and re-designed and re-created and re-schemed to create every single thing that has been Addison’s Wonderland over the years. And as much I LOVE the opportunity to work from home, it’s about time I MOVE ON! And move in. To my very own space.
As I hinted at way back in early January, this is my year to finally take AW beyond a blog and into real life. I have dreamed so many things over the years… from my children’s bedding company to dreams of opening a design firm or an online store or the possibility of our own television show… so so so many things have come and gone over the years. Yet one thing has always remained… my desire to make Addison’s Wonderland into a brand. To create a place that brings all of my visions to life. To have a space that sets my creative soul on fire!
One of the first things that made me soooo excited about this possibility was the actual space. We live right off of the historic downtown in the cutest little Southern town here in Georgia. Our home was built in 1905 and most of the buildings downtown were also built around the same time. From the historic courthouse to the old downtown row buildings, there is SO much Southern small town charm. I always thought if I were had the opportunity for AW to have it’s own place, that the space would need to have that same historic charm as our home. Late last year when I decided I was kind of starting to outgrow our home and our basement and my garage office, I thought about just finding a private studio. I wanted something with exposed brick in a big, bright open space but at the time it kind of seemed like a pipe dream. Fast forward to 2019 and we find out about a space that checked off all of my boxes right downtown in two side by side 1,550 square foot retail spaces built in 1900. I literally couldn’t resist the opportunity. The chance to finally get out of the house and put my dreams and visions into reality. The chance to interact and be social and plan fun events. And the chance to literally walk to my dream retail space from our home. The girls can ride their bikes or their scooters and come hang out with mommy! As I said, we decided very very last minute to acquire two side by side 1,550 square foot spaces that create one beautiful and historic building. The plan is to complete the entire exterior facade with one big ole’ Addison’s Wonderland sign and then complete and open the entire interior of the right side. We then plan to start dreaming about, praying into and hopefully completing out the left space for either a large retail space OR another super fun idea that we are toying with. More details on that coming SOON!
One of the things I am honestly most excited about is the journey to get there. To take this space from raw and open and incomplete to a literal Wonderland. And I will be taking all of YOU along for the ride! I will be sharing every detail, every project, every paint color and pretty much every single work day to either right here on the blog or over on Addison’s Wonderland BOUTIQUE social media… YES, follow @addisonswonderlandboutique on Instagram or request to join the group “Addison’s Wonderland Boutique” on Facebook to follow along! I will share some sneaks here and there on my main Addison’s Wonderland social media but I am trying to keep the store and my blog separate.
I went sooo back and forth about sharing sneak peeks of the building now because the front facade is literally about to be demolished but I decided a “BEFORE” always makes the journey a little more fun to follow. I am channeling my love for Europe as inspiration for the exterior. Think pretty colors and lots of vines and flowers. Eeeeek I get so excited just thinking about it. As far as the inside, the windows are covered so it’s super duper dark inside BUT it shouldn’t be too too long AT ALL before I can share LOTS more! The craziest part is that we are actually planning to open this Spring so it is going to start coming together very quickly in the next two weeks so STAY TUNED!
So in the meantime, how do you shop Addison’s Wonderland Boutique? Well I am so excited to announce that our website is LIVE! For now, we are carrying only clothing but the plan is to have a “Wonderland” of items that all come together to create the full Addison’s Wonderland aesthetic in the next months. It is also a bit of a “temporary” website for the next few months as we really dig in and get this store all set up and launched and running smoothly.
