It’s Fri-YAY friends! We actually have a pretty low key weekend coming up which I am SUPER excited about! Mark has a softball game tonight and then Addie has a sleepover birthday Saturday night so now I am trying to pawn off Winter on someone. Any takers? 😉 Then Sunday we have church but that about sums up our plans! We rarely have that little going on so I am ready to RE-LAX! Which probably means yardwork, house cleaning… Wishful thinking.
Today I am sharing the room that I honestly had THE most fun designing in our entire home. I love color and pattern and of course kid spaces are my favorite so this room is a cumulation of all things ME. I’m always asked where do you even BEGIN a room design? Well I can pretty much take you through my vision piece by piece in this room. So moving into this home, we already had the large white storage unit, the chandelier, the retro pink kitchen and the bench (links to similar) in our previous playroom space (SEEN HERE & HERE). Next, when having our home painted during our initial renovation, I had most all of the rooms painted Ponder by Sherwin Williams.
So now onto the design plan… first I knew wanted something really bold, really colorful and really fun for their playroom. Having two little girls allows me to really play up the girlie-ness in a space so I fell head over heels in “pattern love” with this emerald ikat wallpaper from Spoonflower. From there I wanted one more big, bold pop of color. I absolutely LOVE an “unforgotten” ceiling so I chose Gala Pink by Sherwin Williams to coordinate with the wallpaper. I knew the sofa would work with the wallpaper because it reads a cool aqua gray against the bold emerald wallpaper and our walls are also a cool gray. Once the crazy busy wallpaper was up, it was all large repeat patterns from there to avoid visual overload. So given that the wallpaper is such a busy pattern, I wanted a large geometric print and a more subtle symmetrical print to coordinate in the room. I found these gray striped pouf ottomans and the pale yellow/white rug (links to similar) which were the perfect pieces to “read neutral and subtle” against the bold wall and ceiling. Following me? From there it was another large and fun piece with the gold heart decal to complete the space!
