Yet another week halfway complete my friends! Anyone else feeling like the weeks are going faster and faster every single year? It’s actually starting to freak me out just a tad. I used to feel like the weeks took forever and a day to go by and now I blink and the week is over. I am also freaking out a little because my baby turns six on Saturday. SIX y’all! If you have been following me for a while now, you may remember that Winnie was just a little watermelon in my tummy on my Shark Tank appearance. I know that is where a lot of you guys found me so for reference, that was over six year ago now! She is my little ray of crazy bright sunshine and I can hardly handle her getting even another day older. She is my baby. My last baby and it’s killing me y’all! I know from Addie that each year really does get more and more fun but I also know that my time with them at home is limited and I just need someone to pause time for just a bit. Okay? Okay. Oh and did I mention that I turn 37 next month? Ugh. Ugh. And UGH.
Last weekend the fam and I spent the weekend at our cabin for the first time since May. Winnie had her first soccer game Saturday morning so we drove up around 11am and had a short but sweet 24 hour-ish stay. There were some housekeeping things we needed to take care of since we have had back to back renters for the last three months (Details on renting our cabin can be found HERE) but we also got a chance to relax and enjoy the view. Literally. One of my very favorite things about our cabin is that we have such a beautiful back porch view! Sipping my morning coffee and chatting with Mark over our evening glass of wine is something that makes me crave time at our cabin.
Included in our little bit of housekeeping around Our Wilderness Wonderland was finally tackling the second level loft space. It’s just a cute little nook nestled between ceiling rafters above the living/dining/kitchen area that makes the perfect little playroom/kid hangout space. The girls have always been drawn to playing up there so we decided to officially designate it the cabin “playroom”. For this space, I partnered with Walmart.com to create a space fit for kids of all ages and a gender neutral-ish (as much as my style can take ;-)) space for the array of kiddos that spend the week or weekend in our little home away from home.
Several months ago I stumbled upon and fell in LOVE with The Novogratz Line at Walmart.com. Their colorful, fun and funky style speaks my design love language times a million and I jumped at their $299 vintage tufted sleeper sofa. They have so many fun colors and I love the style and velvety fabric. From there I knew I wanted a fun rug from the Novogratz collection and so I decided on their Retro Wave Pastel Rug. I have never ordered a rug from Walmart.com but I have to say that I was blown away by the quality! It is honestly one of the softest, if not the softest rug I have ever ordered. As you may have seen on my IG stories over the weekend, Winnie rolled back and forth over it all afternoon! I also ordered the cutest $25 poufs EVER that are also soooooo soft! Topped it all off with $12 pillows and now we truly have the coziest little nook! Next I needed a little toy spot but also loved the idea of the piece doubling as a little desk. Both of my girls love to draw and color so this cute Addison Desk was kind of just calling my name! LOL! With spots for toy baskets and a hutch, it checked off all of my wish-list boxes. We put it together as a family on Saturday and Mark was actually impressed with how well it went together! He is NOT a fan of “put together” furniture but he said it was waaay nicer than “that other place I go to sometimes”. Here is a peek at the space BEFORE and then TODAY!
