Happy Hump Day friends! I am feeling like a room reveal machine these days. Life has been crazy busy with projects and then now that they’re all nearing completion, it’s finally been time to roll out the reveals! That’s always the funnest part to me. To see the finished product and all of the hard work that we’ve put into a home with the before and afters. I also love showing you guys that all of my crazy little decisions along the way maybe weren’t so crazy after all. I hope. I’ve always struggled with showing the in-between stages as a blogger. The halfway finished design that is basically an incomplete puzzle. None of the pieces make any sense just yet. That’s not something you typically share as an interior designer building a portfolio but as a blogger it’s what tells my story and shows you guys how it all comes together.
For our cabin living room, the design was a wee bit of an internal struggle. As I mentioned on a previous living room reveal post, an all-white home is a new one for me. With a huge open kitchen/living/dining/loft area and almost zero stopping points for varying paint choices, white just seemed like the best fit for the space. The original orange-ish wood was a definite no-go for me and re-staining the entire cabin a more doable color was a no-go for our budget SO white it was! I chose Super White by Benjamin Moore for, wait for it… a super white look. LOL. Literally just a bright, clean white with zero undertones. Since the sliding doors have a dark brown trim, I chose to paint the window sashes dark as well. I love that little pop of architectural detail. We do still have to fix several sashes as you can see in these pictures but you get the idea.
With a big bold pop of color in the kitchen and dining spaces, I decided to go a little more classic and neutral in the living room. I was honestly super inspired AS ALWAYS by my designer friend Brian Patrick Flynn and his love for plaid. I decided to take the plaid plunge and I knew exactly where to shop! My sister’s beautiful store Saltbox Lane…
Almost a year and a half ago now, my younger sister Maghan opened up the most beautiful home store in our sweet little small town of Monroe, Georgia called Saltbox Lane. From custom furniture to rugs and pillows to the cutest accessories, I ALWAYS find something I love when I stop by! It’s also my go-to for any type of teacher gift or housewarming present as well! Here’s a peek inside her store…
For our living room, I had my heart set on plaid but at the time I wasn’t sure if I wanted a plaid sofa or plaid chairs. I had not purchased any furniture yet for the space so I came in with an open design mind. I browsed through their selection of custom furniture and stopped in my tracks when I saw this chair design. The back detail is soooo cute and I loved the little buttons on the seat back. I then spotted this plaid fabric from over 500 fabrics to choose from and knew it was a match made in cabin heaven! Hehe. No really though. They turned out so stinking cute and are the perfect match for our fun, Southern cabin. After I ordered the chairs, I popped back in the following week and spotted these super fun black/white pillows that were the perfect finishing touch to the space! Here’s a peek at the space “BEFORE” and then TODAY!
