Good Morninggggg!!! Happy Friday! This girl is having a happy, happy, HAPPY Friday! First things first, the cabin is ALMOST DONE. It’s come together oh so fast but whew it has been a LOT of work. From planning to demo to laying flooring and tile to driving back and forth a million times to late nights to loading and unloading my car 6,000 times with decor and furniture… it’s been a ride. A really, really, really fun and gratifying one though. We are not even two weeks away from completion and I am freaking EXCITED. It’s my first “solo” project since becoming single last year and I have to say I am proud of myself. The me of ten years ago would have never done 99% of what I’ve done over the last year and although it hasn’t been easy and hasn’t been perfect, I have survived! And THRIVED. Of course with the help of Abigail and John. Truly my absolute DREAM TEAM. When I purchased this cabin back in May, I fully intended on Abigail and I doing a good bit of the work and then hiring the rest of it out. But my sweet man was sooooo adament that he could and would and wanted to do it all himself so that I wouldn’t have to hire anything out. So aside from hiring painters, he has literally done everything with his own two hands. From demo to flooring installation to installing all new lighting to new cabinet doors everywhere and faucets and well, the list goes on and on and on. And of course as y’all know, Abigail is the absolute BEST. She demoed all of the carpet and then her and I did most of the basement flooring install and most of the kitchen tile backsplash install ourselves too! She also hauled away so much stuff and drove back and forth a million and one times as well. HUGE money saver across the board to say the least! So. Darn. Thankful.
Aside from celebrating an almost complete cabin makeover, I am counting down the minutes until John and I head out tomorrow morning on a nine day, much much needed vaca. So excited to spend some dreamy, beach time with the sweetest man EVER who has worked so hard on my cabin over these last two months. I know everyone is equally dying for a little getaway and I am so thankful it all worked out for us this coming week. As y’all know, my girlies and I usually spend the first six weeks of Summer abroad but of course that had to be cancelled back in May. Super hopeful that next Summer we can jump back into our yearly Summer travels! Almost a month ago now, John and I decided to just go for it and book something for next week and cross our fingers it would all work out. So far so good and our flight leaves at 11am tomorrow. I’ve literally taken it like hour by hour that we would actually be able to go with everything going on. We had Covid testing done to be cleared for travel and we are headed somewhere that has had very few Covid cases and for the most part will be super remote! Tomorrow cannot get here fast enough!!! I’ll share where we are headed over the weekend! You can follow along on IG stories! I won’t be posting too too much but I will share some peeks.
For the cabin’s back porch makeover I partnered with World Market for all of their gorgeous outdoor furnishings. As I always say, World Market is my GO-TO for affordable, colorful, unique finds that are SO my style. They have such fun textures and prints and styles that always make the perfect additions to my designs. For the back porch in “Winnie’s Woodsy Wonderland”, I started my design plan with finding this gorgeous white chandelier. I knew I wanted the white chandelier and the beautiful green forest through the screens to pop so I decided to have it all painted black. And I LOVE IT!!! The paint color is Black of Night and it’s a gorgeous cool black with subtle blue undertones. It makes the warm stone and wood furnishings pop as well. From there I decided to go with the same gorgeous wood table from World Market that I used in the cabin’s breakfast/dining area except this time with the extension making it super long for this huge porch. I placed my favorite wicker chairs at each end and then a mix of chairs and a bench at the long sides. I absolutely LOVE the warm wood tones against the cool black. I finished it all off with a beautiful outdoor rug from World Market and the porch is officially complete! John and I had dinner out there last night and it was super dreamy. Here’s a peek at the space before and TODAY!
