Oh Monday… As “ready-ish” as I was for the kiddos to start back school, I think I started really missing them before I even made it back home from dropping them off. I feel like I always say this but THESE are my favorite ages and they are just so much fun to have around. Well, when I tune out the sister battles. I saw a cute little social media post the other day and it was two circles that overlapped just a tad. One side said “best friends” and the other side said “arch nemesis” and the area that overlapped said “sisters”. That 100% sums up our household!
Although I have blogged all Summer and popped in last Friday during their first day of school, I feel like today is finally the day that both eyes and both hands are back focused on the blog. I don’t have music blaring, kiddos singing or a four year old pulling on my arm telling me she’s hungry. Kid could eat ALL day. So now that the house is quiet and my laptop is open, let’s chat…
First, let’s chat projects… You guys know that Mark and I always tend to have twenty million things going on. That is what we love. Right now however, we seem to have taken on twenty million and two. Over the Summer we decided to officially OFFICIALLY get back into house projects. House projects other than our own. We still have a good bit to do around OHW but no more huge, life consuming construction projects. SO we first decided to purchase a second home again. Yet this time fix it up, make it cute, keep it, use it AND rent it out! We close on our dreamy mountain home/fixer upper next Friday so get ready for a new renovation project! Next up on our agenda is more flip projects! This time we are thinking super local… within our cute little historic town. Like we literally both suddenly want to buy the entire city and fix up every single house that needs work. Anyone want to buy it for us??? Hehe okay kidding but we are both like that. When we decide to do something we get super excited and want to do it ALL! And finally, our company. I chat about it here and there but I am getting ready to really dive into helping Mark once again. So that is that and a huge peek at what you will be seeing soon on the blog!
Next, let’s chat personal stuff. It’s so funny because when I had my hair done last month, for some reason I didn’t even think you guys would be able to tell! So since I have not really chatted about it here and I have had lots of questions about it… YES, I darkened my hair. My hair stylist is KD Cobb with Salon 124 in Grayson, GA for those who’ve asked! Love her! It is honestly a little darker than I envisioned but it always fades super fast. I have highlighted and changed my hair A LOT over the last decade or so and I finally just had this moment where I woke up one day and told Mark I was over it. All of it. I got my hair extensions out, I had my hair colored back to my natural color, I had my eyelash extensions removed and haven’t had a mani or a pedi since May. I am so mad because I had gotten my eyelashes good and long-ish but then got extensions on a whim late last year and the extensions have now killed my natural lashes! Back to using my serum! Mid-life crisis… maybe. Ha! And one last thing I keep getting asked about… my weight. Yes, I can fluctuate weight like something crazy so I have been really focused on getting back down to where I want to be this last month or two. I have lost around 10lbs or so which is not easy for me. At all. I wish I could eat whatever and be a size zero but I cannot. Ever. And no, I am never ever a size zero. Will chat more about weight loss and meal ideas soon I promise!
Now that I have chatted your ear (or eyes) off ;-), let’s talk jeans and Fall and cute outfits and cozy sweaters! I seriously feel like yesterday I was stressing about getting into a bathing suit and now it is almost time to break out the cardigans! First, as you all know I loooove Nordstrom. I started really shopping there more when I started blogging several years ago but now I just don’t ever see myself shopping anywhere else! Their website is amazing, their customer service is the best in the world and their free shipping/return shipping is a no-brainer! I shop for everyone in our house on one website and it makes my life so much easier.
Jeans… Jeans… Jeans… As I talked about some during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, I have tried on every single brand of jeans known to man. Literally. And I have found quite a few that I LOVE! So today I am sharing my TOP THREE FAVES!!! The first pair is made by 7 For All Mankind and they are my new obsession. You know that go-to pair that you throw on every single time you find them clean or even almost clean? Yep, these are that pair! They are a little more than I usually spend on a pair of jeans BUT they are worth every penny. They fit amazing, have a great “not too high/not too low” waistline and they seem to somehow pull in my inner thighs a bit. PLUS, they don’t grow much at all! I paired those with the coziest, easiest yet stylish tee I just got last week. It has the cutest eyelet layered sleeves and can easily be dressed up or down!

Next up, a pair of jeans that is UNDER $100 and sucks in every bit of stomach that you aren’t loving these days. This pair by STS Blue pulls it all in and has the cutest button detail to create that stylish high waist that is super trendy these days. They do grow so I ended up sizing down two sizes! They are a little snug but I love that they never feel like they’re falling down. I paired that with a thick and super nice white tank that I wear with everything lately and a darling colorful kimono!

And finally, the brand I rave about ALL. THE. TIME… Paige Denim! I now have four pairs by this brand and I LOVE each one! I have a standard pair, a distressed pair, a gray pair and now a high waisted pair. They grow the least of any brand I have ever owned and they stay put which I LOVE! They are very comfortable too! Although it isn’t cold here in Georgia just yet, I had to get this cute cold shoulder sweatshirt since I am a “new” brunette ;-). They also have a blonde version too! The inside is crazy soft! I do suggest sizing up because it seemed to run a little small. Plus, I like my sweatshirts a tad big and not so fitted.
