Hey Guys, it’s Ab!
Hey guys, it’s Ab! Brit asked me a few days ago if I would be comfortable “formally” introducing myself here since we haven’t ever really done that. It is kind of weird talking about myself here– almost as weird as the first time Brit introduced me on Instagram. Hopefully you saw it because if not you missed the most hilarious “deer-in-the-headlights” look ever. I always joke that I am the Chip in this scenario… The messy, two different color socks, tooth paste on the shirt type of person. The one who accidentally says the worst things at the worst times. I actually told my mom that one time and she said… and I quote… “Abigail, you will never be the Joanna in any relationship.” HAH. I think that about sums it up. In my mother’s defense, she isn’t wrong. I have always been this way. I am a hot mess 110% of the time. I trip over my words and run at a million miles an hour through life begging my feet to stay underneath me. I feel like that is one of the huge blessings in working for Brit. She manages to balance all of the things will all of the grace… and I am learning… sllloooowwwlllyy.
As many of you know, I started working for Brit in November of 2018… crazy how time flies. I had just come back from college in Tennessee the December before and recently acquired my real estate license. At the time, I was selling property and being a nanny part time. I had no clue what I wanted to “do with my life” but knew that at the time, the Lord was saying not to go back to school. About a month before I met Brittany, I pulled my college registration and cried in my car wondering what in the heck was going on. I was so confused as to why I just couldn’t seem to find the right fit and why I felt like I was running into walls consistently.
Cue Brit reaching out for an assistant, us knowing of each other through mutual friends, a four and a half MINUTE (a testament to how crazy busy Brit was with running the girlies around) conversation at Panera and BOOM… The Lord revealed a different path for me that I could have never seen for myself. I mean, how do you foresee yourself working as an assistant to a full time designer/mom boss/blogger/ etc?!?
So now, here I am. I feel like I fell out of the sky into the perfect place and am so so thankful for the way that the AW community has welcomed me in and for the way Brit and the girls have embraced me as if I were family. I have belly laughed more in the last year and a half than in the last ten years combined and have been pushed to grow in all of the best ways!
Okay okay, onto the fun stuff! I recently bought a house and plan to fully rehab it. It doesn’t look like much right now (try to keep an open mind), but with a little bit of TLC it’s going to be a tiny dream. I’ll be sharing updates as things progress!! Also, I will be renovating on a MAJOR budget so I will be sharing all of the tips that I stumble upon along the way to save money without cutting corners.
Without further ado…
Like, a really REALLY open mind…
Personal favorite…

Hello! This little bungalow is going to be amazing! I can see so much potential, and it looks like it has fantastic bones! I can totally see that porch all dressed up for the holidays, and the long hallway indoors set up as a gallery. 🙂 I think smaller homes like your new little cottage always have such a great spirit! Congrats!
