Sometimes design is planned to a “T” from the beginning. Sometimes a design grows slowly from compiling things you love or need or want. And sometimes it happens in the most random of ways. You see, I have been completing my daughter Winter’s room for a little while now. I know, I know, I know… I’ve been saying this FOREVER but I PROOOOMISE it’s coming to the blog oh so soon. It is complete, finally, and is simply awaiting my photography. Every single time I felt like her room was complete I’d change my mind on something, find something amazing to add or life would happen. And once again, life happened and I had to ship my camera to Canon late last week for repairs, major repairs. As a blogger that is like a surgeon losing their scalple, a teacher without a classroom… You get the idea. I feel a little lost. I am praying it comes back within the week so I can share Winter’s Room Reveal!
So back to the story… My office was mostly planned and completed. Winter’s room was mostly planned and completed. And then I found this swing. Hanging swing. And it was the absolutely perfect finishing touch for Winter’s big girl room. I had it all pictured. Winter waking up, sitting in her swing with her baby dolls and the sunlight streaming in as I walk in to get her up each morning. So I ordered it. A beautiful white rattan hanging swing. The things interior designer dreams are made of.
And then I woke up. Wait, what was I thinking?!? Winter would be swinging through her bedroom window. She would be swinging as high as it would go, across her room and landing face first on the ground. She is the child who tries to climb over our upstairs hallway railings. She is the child who colors on our walls. She is the child who walks out the front door and into the front yard by herself in two seconds before we even realize she is gone. So onto plan B…
Although I loved my desk facing the front yard in front of my office windows, the hanging swing woooouuuuld make the cutest little reading nook for the girls. AND I could monitor the swing usage. AND it would be a pretty amazing conversation piece on the main level. Plus, the same week we are hanging the swing, I received this absolutely breathtaking blanket from my friends at Happy Habitat. And it was the icing on the cake for our new reading nook! So, here it is!
