After a summer long hiatus, Addison’s Wonderland is BACK! Well, kind of… For those of you who are new to this site, WELCOME to one of the most pattern happy and color crazy design blogs you will possibly ever follow. Blogging has been a looooong time coming for me and I’ve finally decided to share my passion with the world.
Okay, don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten about those of you who have loyally followed me for years and are still wondering, “where is all of the cute bedding?!?” Honestly, I sometimes still ask myself the same thing. As Sam Ewing said, “Success has a simple formula; do your best, and people may like it.” In that sense, you could say Addison’s Wonderland was a huge success. When I started AW, I had no idea what to expect. My style is a little more colorful, pattern heavy and “over the top” than most anything I had seen on the market. However, I’ve received more compliments, praise and love for my designs than I ever imagined possible and for that, I am forever grateful to each and every one of you. But at the same time, everyone measures success differently. Some measure success by the volume of sales, the percentage of growth or maybe even just one’s own level of happiness. Maybe my measure of success is a bit too personal, but I just simply felt it was time to move on. I have decided to follow my heart and give up one dream for another.
Okay, still confused? Long story short… I’ve decided to say goodbye to Addison’s Wonderland the bedding company and HELLO to Addison’s Wonderland Blog. Insert a “sniff, sniff…” It took me almost a year and a summer off to really think through that decision. It may be for a year and it may be forever but for now, I am focusing on my number one passion: DESIGN. Yes, Addison’s Wonderland Children’s Bedding Company is design but it’s also a LOT of other things too. Just call me CEO, CFO, designer, mail currier, receptionist, order packer, accountant and social media guru. Saying goodbye to something that is doing good and is still growing may sound border line insane but sometimes sanity is worth more than what meets the eye. Being a mom, a wife, a friend, a homemaker, a business owner x2 (more on that in a future blog post), an interior designer, and an avid “re-do my home a million times”-er hasn’t always been the easiest road. “As you climb the ladder of success, check occasionally to make sure it is leaning against the right wall.” And that my friends, is exactly how I feel. My ladder of success involves design for sure but maybe running a bedding company isn’t the right wall for me to be leaning against.
So, I hope you will all join me on my journey to share my passion with the world. You have seen my take of a little girl’s room, now you’ll get to see it all: my family, my home, my journey back into the business world and my road to pursuing my interior design dreams. I thought a lot about what to call my new blogging and design adventures but in the end I decided that Addison’s Wonderland is ME, plain and simple. It isn’t a duvet cover or a throw pillow. It is my heart, my passion and my take on a beautiful room. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the overwhelming love and support I have received over the last three years with the bedding company Addison’s Wonderland. I am sad to say goodbye but I am excited to transform Addison’s Wonderland into my ultimate dream.
XOXO, Brittany Hayes
