Meet Our Wilderness Wonderland…

Happy Monday! It is a new week and a super duper busy one actually! Thank goodness I finally woke up this morning feeling better. Last Wednesday I literally woke up feeling like I had been hit by a train. Like could not put one foot in front of the other exhausted and it did not let up one bit until today! Five straight days of wanting to sleep, sleep, sleep and I am NEVER like that! I did finally get some sinus symptoms which made me a little less worried but I was still concerned maybe my anemia had kicked back in like something crazy. Hopefully it was just a virus though and all will be back to normal this week! My girls each have a game they are twirling in tonight and tomorrow night. We are also celebrating Winnie’s 5th birthday with family tomorrow night after Addison’s game and then again at a jumpy place with her sweet little friends in two weeks. I thought I would spare our family from that fun. LOL. Wednesday I have several blog meetings and then Thursday Mark is getting started on the renovation of our new home! Eeeeekkkk! Is is Thursday yet???

As you may have read in my post “We Are Under Contract“, we have purchased a new home. A second home that we will be enjoying and also actually renting out sometimes as well. It is in the same community where we have owned several other homes over the last 11 years and a place that we absolutely LOVE. It is our happy place and somewhere we try and escape to every free chance we can get! Since selling our former cabin last February, we have been keeping our eye out for something fabulous to come onto the market. As in Mark and I stalk their real estate page weekly and e-mail each other options. We have looked at quite a few homes here and there while staying at my Dad’s cabin over the last year yet nothing screamed POTENTIAL. After owning several other homes, we had built up quite a mental list of what we wanted… a home that needed work but not TOO much work (no structural issues or total guts)… a home with great bones… a home with a view… a home not too far inside of the neighborhood (some can take up to 30min to get to once inside the gate!)… a home with a good driveway (a serious issue in a mountain community)… a home that had at least three bedrooms… a home that we would want to keep FOREVER. Definitely not picky as you can see ;-).

Almost two months ago now, we stepped inside our dream cabin. A home that is super easy to get to, a home that is convenient to all of the community ammenities, a home with a great driveway, a GORGEOUS view and so much potential I can hardly stand it! After several small headaches involving the appraisal, we finally closed on our new home two weeks ago. Since everything we want to do is mainly cosmetic, we were able to enjoy our first weekend there before work commences this week! So here is your first BEFORE tour of #ourwilderness wonderland…

XOXO, Brittany Hayes

Wow! It has SO much potential! I’m excited to see what you do! I personally am dying to see all of that wood painted white- although that would be a pain to do. What a view!

Talk about amazing potential! My husband and I recently purchased a house with wood beams and tongue and groove ceilings as well. My dilemma is whether to paint over all the tongue and groove white or to stain it… I’m afraid if I paint over it one day I’ll want to see some wood grain and won’t be able to get that look back. Our ceiling color is more of a light gray wood so if we leave it we could probably make it more modern by only painting the beams either brown or white. I’d love to get your opinion we are planning on painting in the next week and I’m so stressed about making the wrong decision I can’t sleep!

I can not wait to see what you do with all of the wood. We purchased a lake house last October with very similar wood. We’ve lived with it this summer trying to figure out what to do with all of it, but I just can’t make a decision. It’s the only thing left we haven’t updated yet. I

Tell me about the good driveway! We found a BC house we are looking at but the driveway is long steep and winds. Should I stay away??

So over the moon happy to share that yesterday THI So over the moon happy to share that yesterday THIS HAPPENED šŸ’ for the other half of AW ā™„ļø The last three years have been something CRAZY for Ab and I but getting to not only witness but to also play a part in one of the happiest days in each of our lives over these last twelve months has been nothing short of PURE MAGIC ✨ Looking back at all of the tears and uncertainty and heartache we’ve each experienced ā€œtogetherā€ it feels kind of unreal that each of our fairytales have officially come true… absolutely INCREDIBLE, genuine, steadfast men that we both get to call our FOREVER AFTERS 🄰 There is truly NO ONE more deserving of a fairytale than Abigail. She’s more positive adjectives than will fit on this post… basically every single one in the dictionary… and then some. And believe me when I say that if Jess wasn’t absolutely perfect for her, I would’ve thrown myself on the sidewalk for all she’s done for me. These two love birds are the ABSOLUTE CUTEST EVER and I could not possibly be more thrilled for them and the countdown to their big day…. ā™„ļøā™„ļøā™„ļø

My first true outdoor design project is coming to My first true outdoor design project is coming to life ā™„ļø And I’m IN LOVE! When John and I made the decision to keep my home and make it OUR HOME for the long term, I decided I wanted to bring the European vibes y’all know I LOVE into our own backyard. It quite honestly wasn’t even as much about adding a pool as it was about the vibe I’d been dreaming up as a whole. Wanting to create an outdoor space that felt warm, inviting, whimsical and elegant. All of the things I try so hard to evoke with my style. A place we can keep our now family of six entertained or just a place John and I can sip coffee in the mornings or wine in the evenings as our kiddos are growing up way way too fast. Bringing what we love about the inside of our home to our fabulous backyard. Thank y’all for following the progress over on stories the last few weeks! It’s far-ish from done for me but you did say y’all wanted to see more pictures on my feed… šŸ˜‰ Work done by @garrisonmessick and @connergrading ā™„ļø
Y’all voted… MORE PICTURES IT’LL BE! And why Y’all voted… MORE PICTURES IT’LL BE! And why not a little design advice and room details with every post too! šŸ’— I’m often asked if someone wants to start implementing a more colorful, pattern filled style in their home, where do you even begin? I think the best place to start playing around and living it up is sometimes the smallest of spaces where it’s ā€œokayā€ to play it up! Laundry rooms, powder rooms, mud rooms and of course kids rooms can be great place to start. I mean, who doesn’t love walking in the door from a busy, stressful day into a vibrant, fun mudroom?!? A few details… The trim color in here is a color I created for our kitchen six years ago now that I am still completely obsessed with. It is a 50-50 mix of Sherwin-Williams Uncertain Gray and Stardew. Both at full strength. It is the most perfect gray blue and it never gets old! Also, this wallpaper is available at shopaddisonswonderland.com and I also blogged a full detail tutorial on how we created this penny tile floor writing. Search ā€œpennyā€ on my blog under the Menu. Happy Weekend!

I joined Instagram to share and be inspired by beautiful designs but I also love sharing the process and progress of it all on a Reel. HOWEVER, sometimes I’d love to just scroll and not have my phone blast a new song at every finger swipe. Anyone with me??? For today, sharing our newly completed living room ā™„ļø Feels so good to call it DONE! HAPPY WEEKEND!!! P.S. If you’ve been following along on stories we are doing lots in our newly landscapes backyard from filling it with furniture to filling pots to place around the pool. Hope you’ll follow along!
