My Blue Velvet Sectional Obsession
Disclaimer: This is a sponsored blog post. Everything I write and post is 100% my opinion. If I don’t love it, I don’t post it. Simple as that!
Several weeks ago I promised y’all a full, and I do mean FULL, house tour. And guess what folks? This girl doesn’t lie. What some of you may not even know is that we have a basement. When we purchased our home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was concrete walls with the absolute most disgusting “disco print” carpet squares you have ever seen. In your entire life. Now, it is a completely finished and pretty amazing one if I do say so myself. And in saying that, I have to give my hubby some major designer credit on it as well. Mark wanted a “man cave” (insert deep, manly voice) and I obliged as long as it did not include the following… animal carcasses, pictures of scantily clad women, light-up beer signs and stained glass pool table lighting. You know, those long rectangular lights that are a million different colors and look straight out of a dingy college bar? Yep, those. So, with fingers crossed, eyes closed and a look of full terror on my face… he got to work! Here’s the main part of our basement, post Mark re-model…
Impressive, huh?!? I was a rather proud wifey. I may have helped with the pool table lighting. Just a tad.
Although we do have several other rooms in the basement (playroom, bedroom, hallway, bathroom and storage area), this is the main living space. On the other side of this pool table area, separated by columns, is a “media room”. Up until last week, it was furnished with a humongous, brown, U-shaped sectional that took up way too much space and added absolutely zero pizzazz to our entirely neutral basement. Y’all know me and this girl needs some color in her life. At all times. With the exception of get-togethers and parties, this space hasn’t seen too much use. You see, I am a creature of my environment. I would’ve rather sat in our beautiful upstairs living room watching a regular television than sit on the huge brown sofa in the gray walled room watching my favorite show on a movie theater style projector. I told you I am weird.
Then came Jonathan Louis Furniture… magically appearing in my life like the sofa savior I’d always dreamed of. After a couple of arm-pulls, several “pleeeeeaaaaaase” and a bribe or two (wink, wink), Mark agreed to move the “brown monster” out and this AMAZING new sofa in. Insert the glory music…
So back to how I am weird… designs literally pop into my head all day, every day. And one day, I just decided that I wanted a rich, velvety navy blue/indigo sectional. And this was even before the “sofa savior” appeared in my e-mail account. Not even kidding you. Something sexy, sophisticated and WOW! So when we decided to FINALLY jazz up our media room, I took one look at their Bella Navy swatch and my vision for this space came to life! It’s the perfect blue with the slightest touch of warmth (which makes it a bit more indigo) that coordinates with our warm-ish gray walls and almost black trim.
Jonathan Louis Furniture started with a dream in 1985 to create a fine furniture line that would inspire people to use colors, styles and fabrics to transform their rooms. Today, Jonathan Louis is a family-owned and operated business that’s an internationally known fashion-forward brand for home expression. They take pride in offering artfully designed furniture that reflects today’s lifestyle and delivers exceptional value.
Although you may have never heard of Jonathan Louis Furniture, you have most likely seen or heard of their furnishings through places like Macy’s and Z-Gallerie. Our main living room sectional that I ADORE is a Jonathan Louis piece as well! When it came time to choose the perfect style for our media room, I decided on the Pia Sectional with a removable ottoman. I loved the fact that the two sides were both long and that the seating was deep.
My love for sectionals actually began eight years ago when I was rather large and round with our sweet little Addie in my belly. One day I just decided that I really wanted a sectional. Mark was shocked but I was determined to find a sleek, stylish yet cozy big ol’ sofa. So eight years ago after a forever long hunt, we found and fell in love with our first sectional at Macy’s Furniture Gallery. Throughout the years I’ve made quite a few sofa to sectional converts out of everyone from family to friends to guests. It’s hard to resist something so cozy yet so cute and so functional. THAT is hard to find in design! Although this one is long gone now (I sold it when we moved into this house), it forever left a place in our hearts. So if you’re newly married, newly homeowners or newly re-decorating, just go straight for the sectional. You won’t regret it!
So how much do we love our new sectional? Without the slightest exaggeration, last night my hubby said “this is so comfortable, do you think we make it work in our main living room in the new house?”. Not even kidding. Ask him. It is so soft, so cozy and the absolute perfect fit for our space. So here’s the grand tour of our new media room! And keep on scrolling for all of the source links. Plus, stay tuned for next week’s post on how we use our media room most!
