A Peek Inside Our Airbnb Garage Apartment Project…

Good morning friends! Today I am popping in to share some updates on our little garage apartment project. As I shared back in January, Mark and I had this crazy idea to turn the space above our garage into a super fun little airbnb rental for those visiting our cute little small town. I of course jumped on the idea of creating a super colorful and whimsical space with absolutely zero “rules”. We finished the space back when we completed our home but we had just filled it with “junk” when we moved in and it has sat in this messy/dirty state for the past year. Last month we decided to FINALLY clean it out and get it ready for paint and wallpaper and furnishings… all Addison’s Wonderland style of course! Once we cleaned it up, I mopped our beautiful Shaw Floors’ Castlewood Oak in Armory that I have yet to really share which are GORGEOUS! We have their Castlewood Oak in Tapestry in the girl’s playroom and art rooms and I can truly say that I am OBSESSED with this entire collection of hardwoods!

After all of the cleanup was complete, I found the most beautiful shade of blue/green called Wythe Blue by Benjamin Moore for the window trim and several half-walls in the bedroom nooks. I decided to have only about 2/3 of the walls and baseboards painted for a fun little detail that didn’t visually “close off” the nooks by being too dark but still added a punch of color and fun to the space. Each of the nooks will have a queen sized bed and I plan to wallpaper the back window walls of each nook with THIS WALLPAPER. Next, I plan to wallpaper the entire back living/dining nook with this wallpaper…

Next week Mark will be completing a little kitchenette planned around THIS ADORABLE RETRO MINI FRIDGE and then it’ll just be down to furnishings and accessories! I have already purchased almost everything and it is all currently sitting in our basement awaiting “loading day”. Oh and don’t worry, there is a bathroom in the downstairs room of the apartment. There is also another good sized room when you first enter the apartment that I haven’t shared yet that will also be getting the AW treatment. I have a super fun wall art project I will completing in this space next week as well! Stay tuned for lots of updates!

Here is what I have purchased for the space so far…

Addison's Wonderland began in 2011 as everything that I dreamed of for my daughter's room. I wanted to create a dreamy wonderland for her full of colors, patterns and precious details. Once her room was complete, Addison's Wonderland was born.
