Happy Almost 2020!!!! I am READY to say the very very least. A brand new year and an official new start to a brand new life! One that I get more excited about each and every day. As most of you may know, particularly if you follow me on IG stories, I have THE ABSOLUTE BEST assistant slash may as well be my business partner named Abigail. She is literally one of the best humans on Earth. Truly. So for a solid six months, LITERALLY, between Summer and early Fall, I had been trying to twist Abigail’s arm really really hard into moving into my garage apartment. I mean, who doesn’t want their assistant/confidant/bestie living even closer than next door?!? She was living over thirty minutes away and since she is literally here basically 24/7 anyways between helping me with the girls and the store and my blog and everything in between, it just made perfect sense for her to take advantage of the cute little apartment sitting all lonely above my garage 😉 And then late September, I FINALLY finished the inside of the apartment (post basement flooding craziness when I’d had to repurpose that space into my office), and she finally jumped on board several months and MOVED ON IN!
Before Abigail could officially move in and call the cute little apartment her home, it needed one last finishing touch… a door lock! For that finishing touch, I chose the Schlage Encode™ Smart WiFi Deadbolt. The Schlage Encode™ is the newest connected device to enhance the brand’s portfolio of innovative smart locks. There is sooooo much I love about this lock that works perfect for my new roomie. One thing is that with built-in WiFi connectivity, her and I both can have remote access from anywhere, without the need for a hub! It can be set-up and managed via the Schlage Home or Key by Amazon apps which is amazing! Also, the deadbolt was soooo easy to install with just a quick connection to our in-home WiFi for secure, remote access control.
Another really cool feature that would work GREAT if I ever decide to make the apartment into a rentable space in Airbnb is the ability to manage multiple guest access, by creating up to 100 unique codes for recurring, temporary or permanent access. This means you can create unique codes with specified schedules for guests that are only active during specified time periods. Literally PERFECT for short term renters! Schlage Encode™ Smart WiFi Deadbolt also offers the ability to monitor access via customizable notifications when a code is used, or via the app activity log to see a historical record of when the lock has been accessed. How cool is that?!? I would have loved to have been able to access that type of information when we had our cabin for rent! You can also use Google Assistant to control your lock with your voice. When paired with the Schlage Home app, you can lock your door and check the status of the door by simply using your voice. Google Assistant is only compatible with Schlage Encode™ via the Schlage Home app.
The new Schlage Encode™ Smart WiFi Deadbolt offers convenience, peace of mind, and it works with Key by Amazon, Google Assistant, and Ring Doorbell. It differs from other smart locks on the market in that it was designed to be the most versatile smart lock to date to provide homeowners, like me, with one trusted device that could operate across home ecosystems and platforms to deliver the performance consumers expect. One of the coolest features about the Schlage Encode™ Smart WiFi Deadbolt is the fact that you can receive custom notifications when someone accesses the lock as long as you have the lock paired with your in-home WiFi network and the Key app. It is super easy to use and perfect if you have different people coming and going from your space. Whether you are providing custom codes for renters, a cleaning crew, or a babysitter, this feature makes it super easy to stay on top of who has been in and out of your home – which has eliminated any added stress or unnecessary worry I might have over my guests! It would even be perfect for an office space with the ability to customize entry for each individual person. Not to mention that the sleek design of the lock fits perfectly in any space. While I installed the Schlage Encode™ with Camelot Trim in Aged Bronze for my own garage, the deadbolt is also available in a contemporary Century style and a bunch of finishes including Matte Black and Satin Nickel to pair with Schlage interior door hardware.
