Valentine’s Day Dinner At Home!
Only two weeks to go until the most romantic day of the year! Or do some of you refer to it as simply the “Hallmark Holiday”? I just call it the day or even weekend to avoid even an attempt to go out to eat. Nothing says romance like a two hour wait. Am I right?!?
Two years ago we started a tradition of spending Valentine’s Day with two other couples which include our preacher and his wife as well as close friends that Mark has known almost his entire life. The first year we spent the weekend at our former cabin in North Georgia and then last year the guys actually surprised us with a trip to New York City! This year may be a bit more low key but I am looking forward to seeing what the boys decide.
Although we are a little obsessed with traveling and will literally find any reason in the world to skip town and see the world, Holidays of course included, we also LOOOVE a good night or weekend at home. ESPECIALLY our new home. We also love to include our girls in as much traveling and celebrating as possible. I swear that each and every age becomes my new favorite and this year, 9 and 4, is THE BEST. Like I would pause time at any moment to savor these ages for just a few more years. The baby years were not my most favorite ever if I am being completely honest so having them old enough be a part of almost everything just makes life that much sweeter. AddieBelle (Addison) is obsessed with cooking so her and Mark take over the kitchen on the weekends and as crazy as it sounds, Winnie loves to clean! Like begs me to let her empty the dishwasher. She definitely did not get that from her mommy NOR her daddy that’s for sure!
So this weekend I decided to surprise them all with a little early Valentine’s Day dinner at home, kiddos included! I partnered with World Market to create a fun and beautiful table display and even picked up the cutest little surprises for everyone as well! Sometimes it’s just that much more fabulous to throw on some cozy clothes, spend a little extra time with the family and make your hubby AND your kids feel extra special in a way that any restaurant just couldn’t even compare. So here’s a peek at our Valentine’s Day Dinner at Home with World Market!

With every table display I create, I always add a little height. Not so much that you can’t enjoy the company across the table, but just enough to add a little visual interest. I LOVE the rough texture and the warm gray wood tone of these pillar candleholders. Next, I needed a blast of color of course, as well as a beautiful centerpiece. I chose this red striped table runner and red velvet plum blossoms which will both be transitional throughout the year and perfect for almost every Holiday. And finally, I found these adorable gold metal heart bells I used as a centerpiece but that I also plan to use in one of the girl’s rooms when I get to work on their bedroom designs.
Are these chargers not oh so fabulous?!? I swear that every time I visit my local World Market I am like a kid in a candy store. Literally because they carry candy from across the world but also because they ALWAYS have the best staple pieces and fun accessories. We have actually had these plates and gold stemless wine glasses for several years now and then I just added these cute bowls and chargers to my collection this year!
Here is Mark’s little surprise…
And then I found these cute little pop-up cards in store for the girls…
