Well my friends, Summer is officially over here in the Hayes household. Well, kind of. Let’s start with Winnie… She is literally the most excited kid on planet Earth to be back to school. I slept in her bedroom last night because the last couple of nights she has gotten scared in the middle of the night and the girl seriously tossed, turned and randomly sat up in her bed all night long! I swear it was from pure excitement. She has been sleeping until at least 8:30am every single day of Summer yet this morning she popped up at 6:30am and asked if she could go wake Addie up. I said yes and she started bouncing up and down yelling “wahoo… back to school… wahoo!” At 6:30am. Then there’s poor AddieBelle. She somehow came into contact with poison ivy or poison oak earlier this week and she woke up this morning to a red swollen face. It is AWFUL! Needless to say she visited the doctor rather than her new 4th grade class this morning. I feel so bad for her!
Today’s room update is one of those posts where I kind of cringe when I hit “publish”. I have spent the last 12 years playing. Designing professionally some, helping the hubs run our kitchen/bath company some, raising our girls a lot and “playing” in our last four homes a lot. I am well aware that I am incredibly blessed to be able to play. To be able to paint things, wallpaper things, create things, fail at things, “succeed” at things and then change them all and start all over again. I am blessed to be able to do what I love. And I love to take chances. I do not take myself too seriously and just have so much fun doing what I do. What I do one day may totally change the next. I just enjoy sharing. I enjoy playing and pushing design boundaries and testing my limits. I enjoy creating rooms that some LOVE and others that I learn from and start all over again. That is the beauty of design. One day I will call this home complete but it won’t be today, tomorrow or even this year. There is not one single room, kitchen included, that I consider “finished”. Some are 5% done and others are 80% done. Some will get cleared out and re-worked and some will simply get edited or accessorized or simply styled over the next year or more. That is what I love to do. That is my passion, my stress reliever and my creative outlet. And this room is DEFINITELY one of those rooms! I had this vision but wasn’t 100% sure if I could pull it off. To the extent that I have had this image sitting in my blog’s “unpublished” queue since May. But today I decided to share! Maybe I will pull it off and maybe I won’t. I guess you will just have to stay tuned to see what I have up my sleeve!
SO in the spirit of all things incomplete, pattern-full, visually busy and needing a whole lot more to tie it all together… Meet our new Master Bathroom Queen of Spain wallpaper… 😉
