Happy Hump Day! It is 5:30pm and I have been running around like a crazy person all day so I am finally sitting down to write a rare evening blog post. Well, running around like a crazy person all week is probably more like it. Between Christmas shopping, a super busy blogging month, two closings just this week (our new commercial building + our new plumbing company), our cabin renovation fully underway and our flip home… I am exhausted. And I have switched from coffee to green tea. Not the best busy month decision. Considering I usually run on a grande caramel latte or two a day, this is a big change for me.
Today I am sharing an update on Winter’s bedroom! Caitlin Wilson Design contacted me about working with them on their new pillow collection several weeks ago and I immediately knew what I wanted and where I wanted them! Needless to say I may or may not have been stalking their product line for some time now. Everything they carry is GORGEOUS and colorful and so me. From their rugs to their pillows and wallpaper, I think I could find the perfect spot in our home for every single thing they sell. Which I don’t say about too too many companies. Like basically four companies. Ever.
Winter’s bedroom has been a little slow going for me. Like I have said before, sometimes I plan way ahead like I did in Addison’s bedroom and then other times I just like to play and see what I can find. I had originally thought I would use her twin headboards from our previous home in her bedroom but once we moved it all in, they looked absolutely tiny in her huge bedroom! So those are going to our cabin as soon as our flooring installation is complete. They now sit in our guest bedroom that you guys have never seen. Because it is full of stuff. Jam packed full. Like can’t even hardly open the door full.
So with twin headboards out of the question, I found these beautiful full sized headboards that I absolutely love. I ALWAYS get asked why there are two beds in her room so here’s the not so exciting reason why… because I like symmetry. And because her room is huge and because I sometimes sleep in her room when I can’t fall asleep. So there you go! Next, I found a whimsical wallpaper that I absolutely LOVE. I knew I wanted to completely wallpaper one bedroom in our home so I decided on Winter’s bedroom once I found this beautiful paper. I love how the blue and white kind of reads like a neutral and the pattern is so whimsical. You guys know I love a little whimsy! I also felt it was something that could grow with her as well. From there we added some texture with Weathered Wood Stikwood on the ceiling which I think is SO important in a colorful, whimsical space. Natural textures keep a room from looking too “cheap” and overdone. In my opinion.
With the headboards, wallpaper and ceiling complete, I then found these GORGEOUS quilts that I LOVE! From there though it has been a little trial and error. I love to play and move things around and change things out so it’s just been fun to change it up with the rugs and pillows this first year in our home. Now though I am finally ready to just get it done! I stumbled upon a fabric that I am OBSESSED with for her window treatments so I have created her final room design from that fabric. Stay tuned for peek at that! And once that is in I will decide if the rug stays or goes. The fabric is purple BUT I cannot tell online if it coordinates or clashes. There is a fine line with these two shades of purple so we shall see! It always takes that one big inspiration moment for me to create a final vision. Although wallpaper, headboards and a ceiling treatment may seem like a huge start, for me those are neutral bases for that WOW moment. Once I saw this fabric, I was done. I PROMISE I will share the fabric soon but until then I want to share what I’ve done so far! And give you guys a peek at the BEAUTIFUL Caitlin Wilson pillows in her bedroom…
