The Evolution of Our Hallway

If there’s one thing you should know about me by now it is that I change things.  A lot.  I keep thinking, hoping, or maybe it’s my hubby that keeps hoping, I will add enough to my plate to stop the constant evolution of our home.  It’s just so fun though!

The feature I love most about our home is all of the windows.  I felt as though our previous home was so dark and dreary.  Most of the windows were covered by porches blocking most of the natural light.  Now our home is beaming with natural light and it is everything I hoped it would be.  Now for the feature I dislike most about our home, all of the windows that lead to a huge lack of wall space.  About half of our huge master closet is filled with mirrors, frames and wall decor that have no place in our new home.  Sooo, I decided to really showcase the one large hallway wall we have above our living room.  Although the gallery wall I have envisioned is still a stack of frames, the hallway is finally otherwise complete and ready for me to hang and accessorize!  Here’s the evolution of our hallway…

Before Den 1

This is the only true “BEFORE” image I have although you can’t really see the hallway.  It is above the railing on the second floor.  You can get a good idea of the general wall color and style though.

The first major update was the paint colors.  I chose a cool gray color scheme for our home that is continued throughout all of the main living space…

Next up, flooring!  I am ever so slightly obsessed with our new white oak hardwood flooring.  It is stunning and I wish I could cover every square inch of our home in this flooring yummy-ness.

BEFORE #4

I am still calling this a “BEFORE” because it is still far from complete but here’s my work in progress…
