Happy May!!! Is this year not absolutely flying by? Maybe we were accustomed to the crawl of 2020 so 2021 and now 2022 are flying by or maybe just the older I get the faster time goes, but oh my goodness!!! Addie finishes middle school in three short weeks and that is still blowing my mind every single time I think about it. She graduates high school in 2026 and when she was little I always felt the 2020’s were a century away. And well, here we are!
We are also just about to leave for our annual Summer adventure which is also blowing my mind! It feels like just yesterday I was feeling as if our Summer travels were a thing of the past but we are officially back on track. We leave May 25th for a month abroad in Italy, France and Croatia and our flight date could not possibly get here fast enough. As my baby girl is heading into high school next year I feel like I will be extra extra cherishing this time together. As always, I hope y’all will follow along!
Speaking of time flying, we are half way through 2022 and I still haven’t quite finished up our cabin reveals! Between having less and less time to get up there to work on the cabin and all things shipping delays, it took us a WEE BIT longer to complete the cabin than we thought. To say the least. And then once it came time for the reveals, we got slammed with all things AW design and our new warehouse. I have finished up photographing it all though and today I am sharing the KITCHEN! My personal FAVE!
Our cabin kitchen… for this room I had this vision of a colorful yet quaint, busy yet calm, un-kitchen type of kitchen. Makes total sense right? You know that mix of color and pattern that somehow feels calming and cozy in a kitchen that functions as a kitchen but has hang out and style a while living room vibes.
For the color scheme, I wanted a tone on tone deep green with a bold pop of a black and white pattern. I fell in LOVE with the combination of this deep emerald green backsplash tile and this deep blue green paint color for the cabinetry called Black Evergreen by Behr. They’re almost the same color but the cabinetry has just enough of a hint of blue to give it visual interest against the backsplash tile. From there, I knew I needed to really warm and texture things up against all of the dark, smooth materials. I found this amazing antique island here locally and it was the perfect touch!
Now let’s chat APPLIANCES! Always such a tough decision when designing a kitchen. I wanted something sleek and beautiful but also super functional and full of features since we will be renting out our cabin.
