Red is Making an AW Comeback… Cabin Guest Bedroom Reveal!

Good morning! Happy weekend! Sitting here sipping my coffee this Saturday morning at our cabin mourning the loss of my phone. Well, mourning the crash of my phone and praying it isn’t a total loss. Given that I take massive amounts of pictures and videos on the daily, my phone stays sooooo full. Plus, I didn’t realize that my Lightroom (photoediting) and Vixer (video editing apps) were keeping every single picture and video on the app as well. Basically doubling how much space all of that was taking up. Lightroom alone had 40,000 pictures on it. Oops! ANYWAYS, by the time I started getting full notifications realized I needed to fix those apps, it crashed. Waaaaaahhhhhhh!!!

Today I am sharing the final reveal of one of the downstairs “guest bedrooms” in our cabin! This room design was such a fun change up for me. From the use of red for the first time in literally 15 years to the bold wallpapered ceiling and the use of two queen beds in a space, I had so much fun designing and layering this room. I always like to share a design tip or two when I post a completed design and I think what makes all of this boldness work is the balance of the warm “color weight” from the red on the ceiling to the warm rust tones on the rug. Otherwise the space would feel very top heavy! I also think the openness of the bed frames and benches create visual space where the bolder elements are making it feel bulkier. And finally… PATTERN. A bold geometric pattern against a larger patterned, more free flowing rug design makes these two patterns work rather than compete.

I’ve shared the progress of this space quite a few times but here’s the FINAL REVEAL! P. S. All paint colors and sources are listed at the bottom of this post! Happy Tuesday!
