Good Morning! HAPPY JULY! My goodness this Summer is flying. We head home from France tomorrow… MEGA sniff sniff… aside of course from seeing the kiddos who we miss SOOOOO MUCH!!! These six weeks have gone so incredibly fast. We spent the first two weeks traveling with the fam and then spent about a week just the two of us in Northern France and Italy and then these last two weeks we’ve been at our home here in France. About half work and half play during our time here in Antibes. Finishing up our apartment {for the most part} and getting our place ready for something exciting. More on that SOON!
Today I am sharing what might look like just a little table BUT has been a huge passion project for John over the last year and a half. So let’s start from the beginning! Last January we went antiquing in Isles Sur la Sorgue… a beautiful village just outside of Aix-en-Provence that is known for it’s seemingly never-ending amount of antique stores. There we visited the most incredible, and HUGE, antique store called Logello Allemand Antiques…
On a hunt for everything from a small dining table to a kitchen island, John spotted a table base that he absolutely fell in love with! He said the center detail reminded him of a musical instrument…
But let me tell you, between the difficulty in getting it into our apartment {as with everything here} which is in a car-free city and crafting a tabletop… his vision was a serious process. Since we had purchased quite a few large items from the antique store, we paid for them to deliver the items to our apartment…
And then came time to craft the top… which he did at home in the States!
Now get ready for it… he then brought the frame of the tabletop he created along with a tube filled with the center wood planks that he had pre-cut and pre-fit… to the AIRPORT to load onto a DELTA FLIGHT. Yes, we paid $0 to check it as “oversized baggage” onto our flight. I was SHOCKED. And I am sure Delta is going to love me posting this fun fact. But hey, we thought it was quite AMAZING!
Once we landed, we got the package from oversized baggage claim, loaded them into an XL Uber and John walked them to our apartment…
Not sure I would have believed it if I hadn’t seen it and been here for it! HA! He then glued, screwed and clamped the interior planks flush with the frame of the table he’d built…
That was all during out time here last Summer and then this Summer he decided to stain it…
And it turned out GORGEOUS!!!

And it looks beautiful with a tablecloth too! I found this one online and LOVED IT SO MUCH we packed it and brought it!
