In honor of Thursdays and the ever so popular hashtag #throwbackthursday, today I am going to share my daughter’s playroom in our previous home. In March 2014, we moved into our new house. Prior to our move, we lived in a beautiful home where we had been since July 2005. Until our daughter Addison was born, this room was our dining room. It was right off the kitchen, had beautiful molding and all the fixtures meant to be a dining room. Once Addison was born and started accumulating massive amounts of toys in the living room, we decided to move our dining room into our formal living room and make this room her playroom. I mean, who uses a formal living room anyways? I am all about a dining room but a formal living room, not so much.
As our dining room, I had painted the walls Gold Metallic by Ralph Lauren It was a process but the result was a beautiful metallic finish that reflects light and really glimmers. It is subtle and really gorgeous. To create this finish, you do brush strokes in an “X” pattern in 4′ by 4′ sections. A roller would create very sharp “roller lines” since the paint is reflective. I loved it so much that I decided to keep it for the playroom! We then painted the ceiling Softest Juniper by Glidden which is a soft green with a blue undertone to contrast with the orange undertones of the gold paint color. Since blue and orange are complementary colors, both colors popped! Since this room was designed about six years ago and some products are no longer available, I have found some great similar options to those in her playroom and they are all linked up below. TOY STORAGE
First things first, TOY STORAGE. Holy moly at the stuff little ones can accumulate oh so quickly. I chose this Cameron Wall System. And when I say I love it, I mean I am obsessed with it and still am to this day. Best. Purchase. Ever. You will see it again when I post about the playroom in our new home. I did a custom unit with the following items (I noted which items are similar to ours if ours are no longer available):

LIGHTING
I love great lighting. As I said before, I think it can single handedly make a room. I absolutely love the Tracy Porter chandelier I found at Progressive Lighting for her playroom. Unfortunately I have searched high and low for it time after time and it has been discontinued and is no longer available anywhere. SO, I found some really beautiful chandeliers that I also think would work great in a fun, girlie playroom…
RETRO KITCHEN
One of my other favorite pieces in her playroom is this adorable Pink Retro Kitchen. Santa Claus brought it to Addie one year for Christmas and she still loves it five years later. It has held up so well and is in her new playroom as well!
FRAMES
The white and pink striped frames are ones I found at Restoration Hardware quite a few years ago. I found these adorable new personalized frames that I LOVE! You can get a similar look pairing the pink and white frames.
SEATING
The light aqua bench seat was a fun little piece I found at American Signature Home. You can also get the look with this beautiful teal bench seat. And it’s a bargain too! Then I found THE MOST ADORABLE little ruffled chairs at HomeGoods!
