Be Our Guest

Re-Post from October 20, 2014:

Guest Room 16

Sit back, grab a grande iced caramel macchiato non-fat no whip and be our guest…

As I talked about in my Welcome Home post several weeks ago, in December 2013 we found our dream home.  The problem was that my head saw our dream home yet our eyes did not.  After having described what we were looking for in mega detail to our realtor and looking at tons of homes in a thirty mile radius, I’m pretty sure she thought I’d lost it when I fell in love with this one.  Beautiful property- check, privacy- check, good “bones”- check, fresh/clean/my style/move in ready- ummmm no.  Honestly, I think that’s what I loved most.  The fact that we could renovate and make it our own little wonderland.  As far as the existing color scheme, I’m pretty sure fall threw up in our house.  The walls were every shade of burnt amber, pumpkin, spice, forest green, apple red and everything in between.  So first things first, PAINT!

IN PROGRESS

The overall look I had in mind was “Hotel Chic”.  We have quite a few friends and family who stay over often so I really wanted a room that felt fresh, clean and chic.  Think checking into the W Hotel in Atlanta for a night, open the door to Room #345 and voila!

I chose the same paint color we have throughout the home for the main walls in the room.  Make sure and read “Ponder-ing Your Wall Color?” before you go and buy this paint color.  No seriously, read it.  All of the paint colors for this room are listed below.  Anyways, I wanted a neutral color on the walls and then a pop of fun on the accent wall.   I also have a love affair with black ceilings.  It is so chic and fun plus it adds height to a room and a modern elegance that I just love!  For that pop of fun, I found this amazing gold wallpaper called Petal Pusher (Gold).

THE DETAILS

The room was painted, the wallpaper complete and now it was time for the best part…  all the details.  First I found this GORGEOUS Chandelier in a silver leaf finish with gold accents that accentuated the gold wallpaper just perfectly.  I then found a beautiful cool grey velvet that has the same undertones as the ceiling paint color for the ottoman and headboard.  I had these pieces custom made for the room.  There is just something about tufted headboards that make my glamorous alter ego smile.

Next up was the bedding and drapery.  Since the walls and ceiling were busy and I wanted a very fresh look, I chose simple white window treatments, as well as a white quilt and shams.   This also gave me a good white canvas to add a pop of color and print with the pillows.  You know how I LOVE a good pop of color!

I die. What an awesome room and Gold Petal Pusher is my most favorite wallpaper in the whole wide world! I’ve had my eye on it for awhile! Absolutely fawning over those dark ceilings too. So gorgeous. Nice job, I just loving seeing your interior design updates. 🙂

Hi Brittany! I wanted to ask what color the lamps are? Ebony or Nighttime Blue? I have had my eye on this wallpaper for sometime and I love the pop of glam it gives in your guest room! I am thinking of doing something similar to this in our master bedroom & I wanted to ask what color dresser you would do? Maybe a fun pop of green to coordinate with the green stripe in the pillow?

I absolutely love this room!! I have a dark gray tufted headboard and I struggle on what colors to put with it. I’m going to use this as my inspiration! Thanks!

As I always say, the only journeys and experiences As I always say, the only journeys and experiences I can… and do… share are that of my own. And today it’s last week’s journey of my explant, lift and recovery. As someone who was “born” with big boobs, had implants to fill what I’d lost to weight loss and nursing to now having explanted to a much smaller size, I’ve been happy with every step along the way. It’s all been what I had or felt I needed or wanted at each stage of life and I’m not one to ever look back and have regrets. It’s just that at this stage of life, I decided the next step for me was to shed some chest. And kind of a lot of it. From a size 32G to a yet to be fully determined 32B-C! To be super honest, the pondering and deciding was by the far the longest and hardest part. With no direct reason for doing so (thankfully)… rather a combination of them from possible health issues 🤞🏻 associated with my implants to the usual back/shoulder pain to just a growing desire to get them out, I’ve felt a bit indecisive and very nervous. But last week I finally did it and I’m so happy I did! Women have so many worries and pressures and insecurities so if this has been on your pondering list as well, I’m just here to tell you that it wasn’t that bad. Any body change takes some getting used to but not gonna lie, shedding that top heavy feeling has been rather fabulous. And the cute little tops and bras I can now wear feel like icing on the cake! So from your always raw and honest IG bestie, thank y’all so much for following along and for all of the love and well wishes on stories. Means the WORLD 🫶🏻
Forget drenching your hands with straight acetone… and the hour and a half SNS process… try this and you’ll never go back! Yep, it’s the “old school” tips method but with your own nails. Takes so much less time and although still not exactly CLEAN, it’s way better than an acetone hand bath every two weeks. Plus, they’re actually much smoother too!
