Welcome to the coziest room in our home… Three months ago we wrapped up construction and FI-NA-LLY got to actually move into our dream historic home. Something that seemed like it would NEEEEEVER happen. After months and months and months… 10 to be exact… of re-plumbing, sheetrocking, flooring, selecting, designing, painting and making no less than 51,000,000 decisions, we put a fork in OHW and called it complete. Well… livable, able to get our C.O., put a mattress in it complete. FAR from my idea of complete but it was a HUGE accomplishment that is for sure.
As you have seen if you have been following along over the last several months, I am taking my time (as quickly as possible… hehehe… is that an oxymoron???) and putting my stamp on every single room in our new home. Although in some rooms I have done a lot and some hardly anything at all, I am TRYING to take one room at a time and perfect every last detail. You guys know that is what I love most.
So our family room is one of those rooms that we use a TON yet I haven’t quite tackled just yet. SO it’s become a hub for the few random things we kept from our former home as well as one or two new things I’ve randomly purchased since moving in. So let’s start with a peek at the room BEFORE…
And then Post Construction…

So first let’s chat about our sectional… It’s the Pia Sectional in Bella Navy by Jonathan Louis Furniture. You may remember it from our former home (tour that home HERE) when we used it in our basement media room. To sum up the sectional story… Mark griped to heck and back, which he honestly NEVER does, about having to replace our former sectional with a new one because getting things in and out of our old basement was nearly impossible. Like we literally had to cut our old sectional to get it out! So he whined and complained and then NO LIE within 24 hours he was begging me to use it in our main living room instead. Like literally every person that sits on it in our new home is like “WOAH, this is comfortable”. It is super deep which I LOVE, the fabric is so super soft and it is freaking COZY!!! AND not to mention the fact that we have spilt not one, not two but THREE glasses of red wine on it and it just rolls right off! Since our “no drinking and no eating outside of the kitchen rule” doesn’t apply to Mark and I ;-). Hehe sssshhh don’t tell Addie and Winnie.
So that sectional is here to stay FOR SURE as well as the amazing cabinet I found at Restoration Hardware. Unless I decide to move it into our main living room. Hmmmm… If it does stay we are contemplating building out a “column” to enclose the extended end of the sectional. We shall see!!! So next let’s chat about the curtains…. cue the angel bells… I am IN LOOOOOVE with these curtains. I have had my eye on them forever and a day yet they never quite worked for our last home. I think we had been in here less than a week and we didn’t even have sheets for all of the beds but I sure ordered these dang curtains. And they are just as amazing as I had dreamed. I get soooo many compliments on them. I also snagged lots of cute things from HomeGoods including the cute little wooden table. Beyond those items, oh and the lamps, I am not sure what will make the cut 😉 but I do know that the rug is too small (it was in my former office) and I am still undecided on the chairs in here as well as the placement. But for now we LOVE it and this room is truly the coziest room in the house…
