Good afternoon! Coming to y’all half cross-eyed from editing these impossible to edit pictures. LOL. Seriously though…. the hardest room to photograph and get the coloring and lighting correct! It’s either way too dark or way too overexposed and the colors bounce off of one another so differently in pictures than they do in person. Anyways, I tried… and I wanted to share details and product links for those asking from Friday’s IG reel. Aside from probably not being the best pictures, I genuinely LOVE how this room turned out.
A lot of times when I am coming up with a design concept, it’s more about a feeling I want a space to evoke than anything else. For this space, I wanted our guests to feel as though they are cozying up in a room inside the adorable cottage on the movie The Holiday. I absolutely love that movie and it just gives me all cozy the feels every single time I watch it. All of the angles in this room just felt so perfect for that look. I started by wanting to layer two wallpapers for a pattern on pattern backdrop so I chose Seed Scattering Wallpaper (stone & navy) and Waratah Wallpaper (blush) both by Milton and King. Such a fun duo that I thought would create so much interest and warmth. From there I chose to contrast it all with Halcyon Green by Sherwin Williams on the trim and doors. Once I got to furnishing and accessorizing, I was down to about 48 hours to do so after taking a few days off with the flu so Winnie and I headed out to our local Target and HomeGoods to make it a quick little makeover! I found this beautiful antique dresser on Facebook marketplace and I also went by and loaded up at our Addison’s Wonderland warehouse for lots of things as well from the mirror to the desk chair and lamp.
Here’s a peek at the space today!
