Good morning! Happy Wednesday! I am sitting all bundled up this chilly Georgia morning in my fleecy plaid pj pants and cabin socks delaying getting ready for the day. Ab jetted off early this morning to go to Ikea so we can get started on our new design studio. EEEKKKKKKK! Quite a few years ago now, maybe seven or eight, I created a full “built-in” bookcase look in my home office at our previous home using various Ikea Billy Bookcases and it turned out soooo gorgeous (YOU CAN SEE THE REVEAL HERE)! And of course way way less expensive than custom built-ins. We simply assembled the impossibly impossible 😉 “put together” Ikea bookcases and then trimmed them out with baseboard and crown molding to give that true built-in look. I then added wallpaper to the open space on the back wall and a rolling ladder and VOLIA! I loved it so much that I have decided to recreate this look with black bookcases (fingers crossed they’re in stock) and light gray walnut shelving across the top in our new AW Design Studio. With wallpaper in the center once again of course 😉 Cannot WAIT to share more on that and the new AW Design Studio SOON!
Today I am popping on to share the final reveal of my laundry room… five whole years later! Yep, five years ago now we “completed” my laundry room along with the rest of our huge 1908 renovation leaving the patterned cement tile in the laundry room halfway done. Long story short, I had originally planned/designed for a shelf which would have cut the tile short but then changed my mind last minute and had a rod installed up higher instead. This left a gap between the finished tile and the top shelf which we then never got around to completing. Here’s a peek at the “BEFORE”…
“BEFORE”
Oh and here’s the “REAL BEFORE” when we first purchased my 1908 beauty…
THE REAL BEFORE!
So back in 2016 I just added it to “the never ending list” and kind of forgot about it. And then somewhere in the middle of all of that I had purchased the remaining tile (Patterned Tile LINKED HERE!) but forgot I had done so and then shoved it into a cabinet and ordered more once I decided to finally complete the space a few weeks ago. So now I have like three boxes of extra tile that I paid a stupid amount of shipping for. GRRRR. Lol! Either way, the room is finally, newly completed and restyled and I LOVE IT!!!
Abigail is of course FREAKING AMAZING and tackled the tile installation. The tile is called SOFIA (linked here!) and we used bone grout…
While Ab was completing the tile, I hit up Target.com and got soooo many cute and functional pieces to style the space. I got this adorable grey container for detergent pods which now sits on my washing machine and then this cute little cream canister for dryer sheets. For the two shelves, I chose these square baskets for wash cloths and cleaning supplies and then this fun pom pom basket for all of those socks missing their mate! Still so confused at how that happens so often. On the top shelf I layered lots of different color and textures to create a purely decorative shelf including these amazing tall wooden vases of John’s. Love incorporating pieces that mean something too! Even if it is a laundry room. Here’s a peek at the space NOW!
