Hello!!! Happy Friday!!! Hope you guys are having a great week and a great November. I know I say this alllllll the time but I cannot even believe that it is almost the end of 2020. Thanksgiving is just two weeks away and Christmas a few more after that. Freaking CRAZY. Abigail and I always randomly chat about how crazy it is that so many months have passed since our Summer travels. So today I am throwing it back to our incredible Summer trip and sharing my second post on our travels and my VERY FAVORITE EUROPEAN CITY… ANTIBES, FRANCE!!!
Two years ago now, I walked onto the historic streets of Antibes, France for the very first time with my two girlies in tow and FELL IN LOVE. I had heard about the city several times over the years and then again from a close family friend who has spent several Summers in France with her son. I love the beach and old French towns (vieille ville) and rich culture and lots of cute restaurants and shops and such… and Antibes is all of that and then some! It is the dreamiest French town I have ever visited and I very quickly became head over heels for this precious city. As I have chatted about before, I am OBSESSED with France. OBSESSED. So obsessed that I hope to actually live there at least part time one day. In Antibes actually. Yes, I know it sounds crazy but it is one of my biggest hopes and dreams and a goal that keeps me extra extra motivated. I learned to speak French in college and just loved it so so much that I continued to practice and work on my fluency over the last fifteen years. After visiting Paris for the first time right before Addie was born, I got hooked. The culture and way of life is something that I have longed for and worked toward in my own life without even realizing it for so so long. I cannot even describe it beyond just a deeper appreciation for LIFE. More time connecting with people… a true appreciation for culture and history… longer meals… a “simpler” yet richer way of life… more intentionality in really everything. Ugh I could go on and on. But I will stop now 😉
Three years ago, I decided to combine my obsession with travel, my love for spending quality time with my girls and my desire to show them the world into one huge Summer getaway. You can read more about my “WHY” HERE! We started off “small” with our first Summer based in downtown Portland, Oregon and then the last two Summers I got brave enough to venture over to my ultimate dream destination… Europe! You can read more about my tips on “How to Plan the Ultimate Long Summer Trip Adventure” HERE! Today I am sharing all of the details from our Summer Antibes travels!
Oh and one quick thing before I get started… THIS POST IS A MUST-READ if you are traveling abroad…

Antibes, France

From our week in Cassis, France with one of my besties and her daughter that I shared all about in my last travel post (Linked HERE!), we all took a train from the tiny little Cassis, France station directly into the Antibes, France station. Train travel is SUPER convenient and one of the things I LOVE ab0ut traveling Europe! I will say though that communication can be a bit difficult in these stations so allow yourself lots of extra time the first few times you travel by train to make sure you have time to figure it all out!
Once we arrived in Antibes, we took an Uber from the train station into the vieille ville (old town) Antibes to find our airbnb. One thing I have determined after lots of small town France travel is that the old towns are THE BEST PLACES TO STAY! By a mile! The old towns, also known in French as the “vieille ville” area, are where you will find the charming streets and restaurants and shops and everything so cultural that I LOVE about Europe. I also scout out airbnbs in the “vieille ville” of each town. Having been to Antibes before, I knew that I wanted to try and find an airbnb along the water. That area of Antibes is STUNNING and so close to the main shopping/dining area and market. I found THIS AIRBNB and it was absolutely PERFECT!!! It is a multi-level unit with a rooftop patio that we loved! Here is the view from the rooftop…
And the view from the bedroom Winnie and I shared…
The rooftop was the perfect spot for our evening glass of wine…
My very favorite thing about Antibes are the miles and miles of meandering streets and alleyways full of the most charming little restaurants and coffee shops and wine bars and museums and creperies. Here is a peek inside the beautful city of Antibes…
This is our FAVORITE breakfast spot! We literally eat here almost every morning. It’s right next to the incredible Antibes market!
The Antibes market, located right downtown in old town, is one thing we love most about our stays in Antibes. We pop by every morning to pick up a fresh breakfast and snacks for the day. It is set up every single morning and broken down every single afternoon to set up for an evening outdoor dining area and art market…
We also LOVE that the public Antibes beach is walking distance from downtown!
Another fabulous thing about Antibes is the accessibility to so many other amazing French towns. It is a short 30 minute drive to Nice and the Nice airport, less than an hour from Monaco and less than an hour from the absolutely PRECIOUS little medieval town of Eze, France. Which is a MUST SEE!!! The commune is located on the French Riviera, extending from the Mediterranean Sea (Èze-sur-Mer) to the hilltop with a medieval village (Èze-Village). The views are INCREDIBLE and it is chock full of shopping and dining! A great place to spend the day…
Another “day trip” MUST is the super short 1-2 mile Uber ride over to Juan les Pins. The beaches are STUNNING and there are so many places to rent chairs and have lunch!
Stay tuned for my next post on our travels from Antibes to GREECE!!!
XOXO, Brittany Hayes
