Happy June!!! Wow, where in the freaking WORLD is 2018 going? Last year’s first annual “Summer Adventure” literally seems like yesterday and here we are on Summer number two! For the last several weeks I have been stockpiling some room reveals so I will still have LOTS to share while we are gone! Make sure and follow along on IG stories as well to follow our European journey!
Today I am sharing the first basement update I have done in a looooong time AND an exciting project I have FINALLY gotten underway… MY OFFICE! For the last year and a half that we have lived in “Our Historic Wonderland“, I have been working from our breakfast room table. I mean, it is rather convenient access to the refrigerator AND we do have a television above the table BUT organization is not possible. My kiddos come home from school and throw their book bags, lunch boxes, afternoon snacks and everything in between right on top of my laptop and paperwork and it just becomes a big ole’ mess. I went round and round about putting my office in the empty bedroom upstairs or even in our garage “apartment” but neither seemed quite right. The bedroom is pretty tiny and the garage seemed too far away for me to work with the kiddos at home. So the basement it was! We had it set-up for a “movie room” but honestly never really used it.
For this post, I have partnered with Surya to share the progress of the transition of this space from movie room to home office. I can honestly say that I have used TONS of Surya rugs in my design over the years. You would probably recognize quite a few from my portfolio from the rug in our former dining room to rug in our current one! Surya is an expert at merging form with function. They translate the most relevant apparel and home decor trends into fashion-forward products across a range of styles, price points and categories – including rugs, lighting, pillows, throws, wall decor, accent furniture, decorative accents, and bedding. To broaden their product offering, they partner with some of the most talented names in home fashion, including celebrity designer Candice Olson, noted performance brand Sunbrella, and design authority ELLE DECOR, to name just a few. From classic to contemporary, their selection of over 60,000 inspired products provides fresh, colorful and on-trend options for every lifestyle and budget.
As you may have seen on my IG stories, I recently inherited a beautiful antique desk from my grandmother who passed away two years ago now so that was the first selection for the space. Next up, I added this console that has kind of room hopped in our home. It’s perfect for this space though! And then it was time for THE RUG. I wanted something neutral, something cozy on my feet and something with a geometric design that would coordinate with the other patterns and prints I have planned for the space. I found this beautiful Berber Shag Rug and the search was over! The room is far from complete BUT it was come a long way and this rug was the perfect addition to the space! Here’s a peek back at this space along our renovation journey and then the progress of the space TODAY!
