Happy Fridayyyy!!!! Yep, I have been a little MIA on the blog the last few months. Between mega life changes, our trip to Europe all of June and then the loss of a dear friend last week, things have been CRAZY. Hoping this weekend is the start of better days ahead. I would say that I am sooooo ready for 2020 but since that is still five months away, I will consider August 1st a brand new start.
One mega project that has also been keeping me busy is my NEW STORE! Eeeeeeeekkkkkk!!! It is FINALLY getting so so close to completion. Although May 15th was my original grand opening date, I decided to not even stress out about the fact that that date was NOT going to happen once my personal life hit crazy town. I just had to tell myself that it needed to take a back seat and that was okay and it would all come together when it was meant to happen. And I am sooooo happy to announce that I have set a date!!! MARK YOUR CALENDARS! And WE ARE HIRING! All of the details are at the bottom of this post!
Grand Opening & Hiring Details Below!
Today I have partnered with Jeffrey Court to share a little sneak peek inside my new brick and mortar store. Jeffrey Court is a tile manufacturer and distributor with two distinct divisions… trade and retail which is sold exclusively at The Home Depot with a combined SKU count of over 3,000! The retail division’s focus is a series of main-stream value driven products available through purchase only at The Home Depot®. The Trade Sales Division focus is to bring cutting edge designer-minded products to the Architectural, Kitchen & Bath, and Interior Design communities alike. Their product designers work with a litany of interior designers, product developers, and industry insiders to deliver the very best products possible for their end consumers.
For my new store, I knew I wanted to do all kinds of fun and whimsical touches throughout the space. One thing I have always loved is the look of words written in hexagon tiles reminiscent of drug store and hardware store entrances in historic buildings across the country. Several of which are still in tact in our very own downtown. Given my love for the French language I decided to do one spelling out “MERCI” (thank you in French) by the checkout counter and then since my store is going to be ALL about women empowerment and self love, “YOU ARE BEAUTY-FULL” by the dressing rooms. I chose Jeffrey Court’s 5/8″ Hexagon Mosaics in black and white to create the designs.
In creating these designs, I have to give Abigail ALLLLL the credit! She did both of them in their entirety all by herself! We first had the white tile laid un-grouted by our tile crew. Once that was set, Abigail used a dry erase marker to write out the wording…
From there, she literally chiseled out everything in black to replace with black hex tiles…
Finally, she replaced each piece tile by tile with black hexagon tiles…
And they both turned out AMAZINGGGGGG!!!!! Here is a quick peek back at the entire space BEFORE…
