Vintage Chic Dinner Party at Home with Nambe
DISCLAIMER: THIS IS A SPONSORED BLOG POST. EVERYTHING I WRITE AND POST IS 100% MY OPINION. IF I DON’T LOVE IT, I DON’T POST IT. SIMPLE AS THAT!
I have a serious life dilemma ;-)… I absolutely LOVE to entertain but I absolutely HATE to cook. Fellow blogger The Makerista says it best with her catch phrase “Making anything and everything… except dinner.” Genius. Literally the “theme song” of my life. I would rather lay tile flooring AND grout it than simply cook dinner. Thank goodness opposites attract because Mark is master chef at our home. Too bad he has to work and make a living because that leaves weeknights up to me. And Addie. I somehow birthed a child that watches Food Network 24/7 and would probably faint if she saw the Pioneer Woman in real life. She is her idol. Forget Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez, Addie would rather hang out with the cast of Cutthroat Kitchen ANY DAY.
Back to my #reallifeproblems… we love to have friends over. I would say almost every single weekend that we are in town, we have friends over for dinner. And almost every single weekend I encounter the same dilemma. Fresh flowers are purchased, the table is set and the house is clean but oh crap… my part of the dinner menu is all but forgotten. Honestly more like not even thought about. Mark always grills meat and veggies and then I usually handle the rest. With the exception of his amazing risotto. When I can twist his arm to make that, my list lessons even more. And of course whatever I “make”, I have to make it beautiful!
So when I saw this beautiful wooden cheeseboard by Nambe, I knew it was the perfect addition to my serveware collection AND it gave me lots of new ideas for “my part of dinner”. My part of dinner is typically salad and/or a side as well as something snacky while Mark is grilling. So with cheeseboard in mind, I bought several bottles of wine and several “fancy” cheeses for a little wine/cheese tasting pre-party! I mean, it honestly can’t get much easier than slicing cheese and popping open a couple of bottles of wine. I think I can handle that 😉
Last weekend we invited my high school bestie and her family over for dinner and I decided to play around with the “vintage chic” theme that I have in mind for “Our Historic Wonderland”. I brought out all of my fun china as well as my new macrame table runner which were all set off perfectly by the rustic beauty of Nambe’s Swoop Cheeseboard with Knife. I also scoped out my local HomeGoods for the their latest shipment and snagged this copper lantern, gold floral votives and metallic votives. Two weeks later it is still gracing our dining table as decoration!
I absolutely LOVE when pieces serve multiple functions. That honestly typically sells me on a new piece when I can envision it as functional and decorative. I mean basically it needs to be decorative first and then functional second ;-). Not only is this piece functional as a cheeseboard, it can also work for serving most any type of food! So here’s a peek at the second way that I used our cheeseboard as a centerpiece and bread/oil serving piece..
Whether it’s for you or your mom for Mother’s Day or even as a wedding gift, any of the Nambe wooden cheeseboards make the perfect gift that will literally last a lifetime. Now that mine is displayed, I plan on keeping it out as a centerpiece whether it’s on our dining room table or even our kitchen island. And thanks for checking out our vintage chic dinner party at home!
