Happy Monday! Coming to y’all with a “little” Winnie big girl bedroom update! This may not be too terribly exciting for those who’ve followed along over on IG but I wanted to make the updates “blog official” with all of the paint, wallpaper and furnishing details!
Quite a few months ago now I decided to give Winnie’s bedroom a complete overhaul! Although I LOVED her original bedroom design, she had been wanting a bigger bed like Addie and she just needed more playroom and dresser space along with a spot for her Barbie dream house. I started with this wallpaper and since I LOVE a good contrasting trim color against wallpaper, I had her trim painted SW Doeskin to match all of our upstairs doors. Next I wanted to add a good texture and style contrast with a simple, funky wood toned bed that added a simplicity to the space along with a not so so girlie feel. Next up, whimsy!!! These birdcage lights were the perfect pieces to add a little fun and a touch of the unexpected.
And that’s where her room sat for quite a bit. Until I found this console! I saw it at West Elm and had to have it. Everything about it was perfect for the space including the fact that it’s meant to be a media console so it sits lower than a standard dresser. Perfect for her platform style bed! The color and texture were also perfect for the space. The next conundrum was figuring out her drapery. I knew I wanted big panels to visually frame and soften her bed but I also wanted panels she could close against the windows. HOWEVER, there wasn’t really a way to do both on one rod. So I used one tiny rod for stationary panels on the jut out part and then one long rod with shorter panels on the inset window area that are functional. Here’s a peek at her almost finished space!
