Happy Friday! Yep, it’s 9:37pm and I am sitting on the sofa of our rental “home” (duplex) writing a new blog post. Well that NEVER happens! Tonight Mark is out with his high school buddies and I just tucked the kids in bed so I decided to share a new status update for Our Historic Wonderland! Several days ago I snuck in while no one was working and being loud and playing random music to film a little video tour update! We have done SO incredibly much since our last video tour PLUS I feel like the house shows so much better via video than pictures.

Just to catch you up a tad, we purchased the 1905 home completely gutted so we then re-plumbed, re-wired and re-everythinged (so not a word) just about everything ;-). Once all of the re-everythinging was done, it was time for sheetrock and paint! The interior AND exterior painting is almost complete except for some minor touching up and window scraping so next week we will begin the flooring! After that it’s lighting, cabinets, countertops, plumbing fixtures and then moving day! Holy moly we are approaching the end!! Sniff… Sniff… I honestly got sad the other day thinking about how we are almost done. Yes I am crazy. To me, this is the downhill slope and the fun part which means my job is almost done! I mean not really but I have serious problems and love all of this construction stuff way too much. Oh and Mark found some information about the home amongst all of our paperwork so here are some random facts…

Random Facts about OHW

  • The home was originally built in 1905 as a single story with a crawl space, brick foundation perimeter with brick pillar supports.
  • A major renovation and modification in the 1970’s included the creation of the basement.
  • In 2002 the home was purchased and a major renovation began in 2004 to add a second story and completely renovate the home. However, renovations ceased in 2007.
  • Lot is approximately 1.08 acres.
  • The main house is 5,750 square feet.
  • The carriage house is 850 square feet.
  • All fireplaces were completely restored and are functional.
  • All exterior doors are custom made.
  • All exterior windows that were added were custom made to match the original.
  • Entire house re-leveled and shored up structurally.
  • Large mahogany pocket doors between living and dining rooms are intact and preserved.

I have SO many amazing things planned that I am DYING to share so stay tuned! This home will be so vastly different design-wise than our previous home that I think you will all be blown away! And truly thank y’all again from the bottom of my heart for following our journey. I feel so blessed with your sweet comments and with just how much you guys have immersed yourselves into our restoration. We love you all! XOXO

But first, before I share the recent update tour of the main level, I have to share my very first video tour so you can see how far we have come!

Hi, I'm  Brittany

Addison's Wonderland began in 2011 as everything that I dreamed of for my daughter's room. I wanted to create a dreamy wonderland for her full of colors, patterns and precious details. Once her room was complete, Addison's Wonderland was born.
