Okay, okay I admit it… I am not always THE BEST with sharing budget friendly home decor and ideas. I am also certain that Mark just might agree. I mean… maybe 😉 My checkbook weak spot is finishes and lighting and furniture and… all of which are exactly what we’ve been working on for the last year with Our Historic Wonderland. HOWEVER, accessorizing is usually where I shine. In a bargain shopper super woman kind of way. Hehe. Okay kidding but for real though that IS usually where I save a few pennies. Quite a few times lately readers have requested that I share some money saving decor and organizing tips so when Bealls Outlet reached out to partner on a project, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to do just that!
One afternoon earlier this week I picked Winnie up from school and we headed to our local Bealls Outlet store to see if they had any amazing finds for OHW. To be completely honest, I had not been to one in years so I was not quite sure what to expect! But I have to say that I was more than pleasantly surprised! I went in thinking of accessorizing a console table and then once we made our way around the store, I was narrowing it down from three possible project ideas!
How cute is that metal and wood table above??? That was one of my “project possibilities” for a side table in our mud room but I unfortunately did not know for sure if it would fit. And then I discovered the motherload of wall decor. Everything from frames to artwork to organizational supplies. All at up to 70% off retail pricing! I am pretty sure that every single time I picked up an item I was shocked at how inexpensive it was. This table for example was under $100!
After I finally decided to tackle a “command center” in our laundry room AND Winnie had successfully asked if I would buy her every other item she saw, I loaded up our cart with not one, or two, or even three but SIX cute items for this wall project. That is SIX for UNDER $100! Kind of well under $100! AND they were all great brands like Persian Home and Sheffield Home. Since they have an amazing home decor sale event going on now through February 28th, I was able to get even more within budget than I thought! We even took a stroll through the entire store since Winnie wanted to push the cart and look at the toy section. I saw they carried everything from Vince Camuto which I LOVE, Tommy Hilfiger AND Jessica Simpson brand all at least 50% Off!
So here’s what I found as well as how I lay out and visualize a gallery wall… (I also got a cute chalkboard not pictured because it was for a side wall)
First here’s a look at our laundry room where I hung my new command center gallery wall…
So you may be wondering why I chose the laundry room… The one and possibly only “not so fabulous” part about OHW are the entries. The too many entries with not so many access points. We have five entryways to be exact yet none are easily accessible from our garage. I think we literally come in a different way every single day. If I have groceries I park on the road and come in the front door… if it’s raining I park in the driveway and come in the basement door… if it’s sunny and we are coming back from school we enter through the mud room door… It’s a hot mess. BUT four of the five entryways eventually lead to our mud room and laundry room. And since our mud room is full of cabinetry, I chose to make myself a little command post right inside of our laundry room just around the corner from our mud room. A great little hidden spot where I can organize our lives and keep the essentials stowed away. So here’s a peek at my new “command center” after I hung everything AND after I starting using it!
