Our Historic Wonderland

Our Family Room… Party of Six… Transformation!

Good evening!!! Sitting here this Wednesday night with a gluten-free cupcake in one hand and a glass of wine in the other writing this post. Wait… that’s three hands ;-). And yes, I posted that I am trying to drink less weeknight wine BUT we had friends over for dinner so that’s my exception. Fun nights, date nights and trip wine ONLY!

Popping on tonight to share our family room reveal!!! First… I have a confession. I genuinely worried once I got going that I wouldn’t like this room makeover quite as much as the original. I of course kept the same sectional as you will see but I kept changing my mind on rugs and then at first the colors didn’t seem as fun BUT it finally came together and it is now one of my favorite rooms in the house! There’s something so rich and warm and cozy and even a bit more sophisticated about the space now that I adore.

So first let’s chat about WHY I made it over. Which also just so happens to be the new focal point of the room… becoming a family of SIX! I think it’ll help if we go through a few “BEFORE’S” to get this reveal party started…

Before Our Renovations…

Before Our Family of Six…

So as you can see, my girlies were the stars of this space. It felt very pink and girlie and all things “the three of us”. I’d had these pictures done shortly after my divorce and I ADORE THEM! But after getting married last year and becoming a family of six, I decided to make it feel like home for all of us… including my two new bonus sons. So after Ab surprised us with the most incredibly wedding gift photo shoot of the kiddos, this new image become the inspiration for an updated room makeover! A new image that I had printed SIX FEET WIDE!!! An entire blog post coming soon about all of that I PROMISE!!! With a new image as well as a rug, new chandelier and lots of new decor, I created a space that feels like home for all of us now.
