Got kind of teary eyed a few days ago thinking this just might be my very last little decor refresh in Addie’s bedroom before she goes to college. Kind of wild since creating her very first “big girl” bedroom back when she was two years old is actually where Addison’s Wonderland all began! Yep, my adorable toe-headed toddler is now seventeen years old. Sniff… Sniff… Bittersweet for sure as they always say because it is such a joy watching her become a young woman and I love the relationship and conversations we can have now that she’s getting older. New years and new kinds of memories!

Last week John finished up the new railings on her little balcony which was the very last piece of completing all of our big leak fix/renovations. And with that, I decided to do a really good bedroom cleanup and refresh for her since her bedroom was in construction shambles for so long. About six months ago John discovered that there had been a very long/ slow leak happening at this balcony doorway which is on the third level of our home. Her bed had been pushed against that door for almost nine years now and so the leak had gone unnoticed. Needless to say, eight or so years of water did quite a bit of damage and he had to replace everything from her entire balcony to several supporting beams, a good bit of our exterior siding and quite a bit more… even our mud room wallpaper! It was a MESS and I am sooooo glad it’s all resolved and that our home is put back together.

Today I am sharing that little cleanup and refresh as well as the new layout of her room since moving her bed to a different wall. When we moved into this home, Addie was only six or seven so I wanted her bed blocking access to that high balcony but now that she’s seventeen it’s all hers! The perfect little outdoor reading spot. Cannot wait to furnish and accessorize that next!
