Our Historic Wonderland

We’re Just A Little Weird…

Weird Quote

My hubby and I are really weird.  If you don’t already think so, don’t worry, you will by the end of this post.  We always joke that most everyone in our lives probably thinks that we have absolutely lost our minds at almost every point in our lives.  I do believe though that at some point, our weird has become our normal.  You see, Mark and I are both really really different.  Yet we have three things in common: we both have a ton of energy (as long as I get my mandatory 8-9 hours of sleep), we both have a tremendous drive with almost zero trepidation and an obsession with consistently taking on ALMOST more than we can chew.  It’s just how we roll.

It’s funny because this post… this news… we’ve told about six people.  Most of our family doesn’t even know about this.  And NO, I am not pregnant.  You know when you get something or do something really exciting and you immediately pick up the phone to call and tell your closest friend?!?  Well, once I did just that, I decided to then pick up my laptop and tell my other closest 100,000 friends.

So here’s the story… about two weeks ago, several of my friends insistently kept telling me about this house.  Like over and over and over and over.  Literally without ceasing for an entire Friday evening.  Apparently “everyone” knew about this “amazing” house that had just gone on the market.  This amazing, completely gutted home.  With zero desire to move and a vision of lots more projects in the works around our own home, I listened and then forgot.  Until Mark came home on Thursday and said “you have GOT to see this house”…

So the conversation went something like this…

Mark “You have GOT to see this house”

Me “Babe, I have no desire to move, zero desire to see this house and zero desire to want this house”

Mark ” No really though, you absolutely HAVE to come see this house with me”

Me “No really though, I don’t want to move and I know you don’t either.  We finally have land that you’ve always wanted and our house is almost complete.

Mark “But this is our dream renovation…”

So Friday evening, in the pitch black dark, we took two flashlights and two kiddos and went to see “the house”.  About three steps inside, I said “okay, let’s move”.  After another visit Saturday morning, we made an offer and we will soon be the happy new owners of a completely jawdropping house full of 2×4’s.  From 1905…

Stay tuned, I will be sharing LOTS more later this week and next weekend!  Oh and our current house is almost on the market… Any takers?
