WANT TO MAKE SURE YOU CONTINUE TO FOLLOW ALONG ON OUR RESTORATION JOURNEY?
I have a feeling that you totally won’t even believe me when I say that I truly am the least indecisive person ever. Our entire family makes fun of us both because we do things so quickly. We see a house, once, for five seconds, and we say “yep, we’ll take it!” You want us to go to Europe next week? “Sure! Sign us up!” I get a random desire to wallpaper the hallway and it’s being installed the next day. And then came this damn house. Excuse my language because I honestly never cuss but you probably won’t even believe that either. Basically this a post of firsts.
I also never actually intended on posting a million posts just about exterior colors. It’s just that the last four weeks have consisted of the following in no particular order… Work on the new house, work on designing our new showroom, let the kids drag every toy into every room while I do so, take the kids to school, pick the kids up from school, cook dinner, run errands, get a phone call that the house is showing… oh crap now I have to rush home and clean for four hours. And repeat. So out of those amazing options, blogging about the new house seems like the obvious choice since I do blog my life. So welcome to my life ;-).
When I became a blogger this amazing thing happened where my love for designing and re-designing our home became my career. Had I known this existed I would’ve jumped on this train YEARS ago! But here I ride now and am working on my biggest project ever. And I want it to be amazing. All kinds of amazing. And if you know me, you know that I also don’t like doing what is “normal”, or “in style”, or popular or trendy or any of that jazz. I like to do my own thing and to be honest, I like to make people say “woah”. So as much as I actually for once wanted to paint something white, I am secretly glad that it virtually looked really ugly (see that post HERE). Oh and not virtually as in almost. Virtually as in my computer painted my house. And it was amazing. So then I decided to do what logically comes next and paint a house black. Well almost black.
So here she is yesterday and today…
If you’re new to the painting craziness, yes this is in fact my fourth indecisive exterior color choice post. I have now purchased 15 sample quarts, spent over $150 and have created an abstract painting on the side of our home testing colors. Basically all I want is something dark, bot not too dark. Charcoally but not too grey. A hint of blue but not too blue. Black but not actually black. And amazing. Definitely amazing. Is that too much to ask?!?
So yesterday I popped by and added two more colors to my ombre testing wall…
So after closing one eye while covering colors with my hand, staring at them all for fifteen minutes each, I then narrowed it down to two… Abyss and Soot. The first and third options above. While watching my chaos unfold, our amazing painter then offered to spray a wall to give me a better sample area. YESSSSSS! I went by this morning to take a peek and to choose the final color…
Yet I STILL cannot decide. I LOVE Soot which is the right side option but going that dark is SCARY! So then our amazing painter offered to prime our entire house in that color this afternoon. Clearly I am crazy. And he is amazing. If I still can’t decide after the entire house is painted, please have me admitted somewhere. Oh and yes, I am a designer. Mark asked me about this yesterday. I am an INTERIOR designer. Thank you.
Sincerely, the LEAST indecisive person ever
