Happy Fridayyyyyy!!! While you are reading this, I am recovering from uterine ablation surgery. Fun times! I am actually planning to give you guys a written recap of the procedure on the blog very soon for those who are possibly considering doing the same. Don’t worry, I won’t share a single picture! 😉 I asked around like crazy trying to make sure this was the best decision for me and my severe anemia so I plan to share my honest experience with you guys soon. Today is actually Monday though and I am writing this post well in advance as I try and get all of my ducks in a row before the big surgery day on Thursday. Well, my two kids and hubby and house in a row. I kind of forget what all I do and take care of until it comes time to delegate and then I remember why I always seem to feel a wee bit overwhelmed. I think as a woman and a mom, what we do isn’t always easily definable so it’s sometimes difficult to wrap our heads around what all we do and take care of. I am here to tell you that we do lots and lots mamas! I think I need to remind myself of that way more often and remember to give myself some grace.
Today I am not only excited to share this reveal with all of you but I am actually anxiously awaiting 3:45pm so I can pick Addison up from school and show her as well! I have been keeping this little secret from her since I planned it all out several weeks ago. I teamed up with Walmart to surprise my little bookworm with a brand new bookcase and reading nook! Last month I made over our cabin loft into a fun and colorful kid’s space with Walmart.com and I loved everything so much I decided to create something special for Addison as well. Walmart.com has become one of my new favorite shopping destinations for not only all things affordable but also for fun, unique finds by great brands like Novogratz, Little Seeds and even Better Homes & Gardens.
The plan all started when I asked Addison to clean and organize her bedroom a couple of weeks ago and she rounded up about thirty books from here, there and everywhere and asked me where she should keep them all. We decided on lining them all up on her dresser but after about a week they were covered in Legos, clothes and bracelet string. If you have followed me for any length of time, especially on IG stories, you have probably seen Addie’s little obsession with reading. Every single year she crushes her grade’s AR (accelerated reading) points goal of 150-175 with close to 500 points every single year. She has lots of reading medals and recently tested into a 10-11th grade reading level. Needless to say, we are so super proud of our little reader so I wanted to give her a special little reading nook all her own to store her books. Plus, a quiet spot far away from Winnie for her to read ;-). She can be a wee bit loud and crazy at times. LOL. I first found this cute bookcase and thought it was the perfect style and size for this little unused corner of her bedroom. I loved that it also had a storage bin at the bottom which is perfect for Addison’s huge collection of quilts made by her grandmother. Next I found this adorable pink flip chair that easily converts from a chair to a little chaise style formation. From there I finished it off with this $13 glittery gold bow pillow and cute little gold giraffe. After you see the reveal, pop over to IG Stories for her reaction! Cannot WAIT for her to get home today!
