Addison’s New Kid’s Bedroom Reading Nook with Walmart!

Happy Fridayyyyyy!!! While you are reading this, I am recovering from uterine ablation surgery. Fun times! I am actually planning to give you guys a written recap of the procedure on the blog very soon for those who are possibly considering doing the same. Don’t worry, I won’t share a single picture! 😉 I asked around like crazy trying to make sure this was the best decision for me and my severe anemia so I plan to share my honest experience with you guys soon. Today is actually Monday though and I am writing this post well in advance as I try and get all of my ducks in a row before the big surgery day on Thursday. Well, my two kids and hubby and house in a row. I kind of forget what all I do and take care of until it comes time to delegate and then I remember why I always seem to feel a wee bit overwhelmed. I think as a woman and a mom, what we do isn’t always easily definable so it’s sometimes difficult to wrap our heads around what all we do and take care of. I am here to tell you that we do lots and lots mamas! I think I need to remind myself of that way more often and remember to give myself some grace.

Today I am not only excited to share this reveal with all of you but I am actually anxiously awaiting 3:45pm so I can pick Addison up from school and show her as well! I have been keeping this little secret from her since I planned it all out several weeks ago. I teamed up with Walmart to surprise my little bookworm with a brand new bookcase and reading nook! Last month I made over our cabin loft into a fun and colorful kid’s space with Walmart.com and I loved everything so much I decided to create something special for Addison as well. Walmart.com has become one of my new favorite shopping destinations for not only all things affordable but also for fun, unique finds by great brands like Novogratz, Little Seeds and even Better Homes & Gardens.

The plan all started when I asked Addison to clean and organize her bedroom a couple of weeks ago and she rounded up about thirty books from here, there and everywhere and asked me where she should keep them all. We decided on lining them all up on her dresser but after about a week they were covered in Legos, clothes and bracelet string. If you have followed me for any length of time, especially on IG stories, you have probably seen Addie’s little obsession with reading. Every single year she crushes her grade’s AR (accelerated reading) points goal of 150-175 with close to 500 points every single year. She has lots of reading medals and recently tested into a 10-11th grade reading level. Needless to say, we are so super proud of our little reader so I wanted to give her a special little reading nook all her own to store her books. Plus, a quiet spot far away from Winnie for her to read ;-). She can be a wee bit loud and crazy at times. LOL. I first found this cute bookcase and thought it was the perfect style and size for this little unused corner of her bedroom. I loved that it also had a storage bin at the bottom which is perfect for Addison’s huge collection of quilts made by her grandmother. Next I found this adorable pink flip chair that easily converts from a chair to a little chaise style formation. From there I finished it off with this $13 glittery gold bow pillow and cute little gold giraffe. After you see the reveal, pop over to IG Stories for her reaction! Cannot WAIT for her to get home today!

My home is celebrating it’s 113th birthday and A My home is celebrating it’s 113th birthday and Ab and I are celebrating our first successful project of 2021 AND the first completed week of our new blog schedule! Yep, our penny tile mosaic super detailed tutorial and reveal is LIVE on the blog as well as three more posts this week. Pop over and sign up to follow along! P.S. If you’re wondering why I chose to orient the saying this way, I pondered it for a while. In the end I chose this way because we literally never ever use this back door. Anyone entering our home either comes through the front door where this is visible down the hallway, up the basement stairs where this greets them at the top or around through our laundry room or family room. Basically when your 1908 home has a million exterior doors, most end up going unused. HAPPY FRIDAY!!! ❤️ Oh and P.S.S. This wallpaper, trim color, artwork and all of the tile details are on the post! Did a little rustic wood shopping over the weekend Did a little rustic wood shopping over the weekend which meant I just had to snag another cutting board 💗 See it over there looking all cute? I think this one just might be cutting board wall worthy! 😉 Sharing more of my finds on stories today. Several new projects coming soon from my finds too! Also thought I’d take this “cleaned my kitchen just for this picture” opportunity to answer two of my most asked questions... what is your cabinet color and what are your countertops? My cabinets are a 50/50 color mix I created when I was determined to find the perfect blue-gray mix. It’s a full strength, equal mix of SW Stardew and SW Uncertain Gray. My countertops are Calcutta Reale marble and I’m sharing all of my thoughts about marble in a kitchen on the blog! Link in bio!

I cannot even tell you how much fun Ab and I have had on this mini little renovation. #ad Winter asked for a Barbie dreamhouse for Christmas and I just couldn’t hold back. The only problem was that I only had a day or so to go and we were still wrapping twine for chandeliers and spray painting furniture… oops! Thank GOODNESS for @walmart and Walmart+. By becoming a member of Walmart+, you can save nearly 2.5 hours per week with free delivery from your store on orders $35+ (Savings based on 3 store trips per week. Excludes time spent shopping online. $35 minimum order. Restrictions apply.) With our family Christmas party last night and Winnie at home all week, sneaking off to the store wasn’t really an option. I needed a few extra dollhouse supplies and a few things for the party tonight so I hopped online and logged into my Walmart+ account. Sharing LOTS more on stories today! My very own sidekick WONDER WOMAN 👊🏻 This gi My very own sidekick WONDER WOMAN 👊🏻 This girl right here demoed out this entire cabin with her own two hands in 24 hours. A million pounds of junk and carpet and tack strips and everything in between. We just might have had a little fun on stories today documenting some of it too! Now it’s time for DESIGN!!! Eeeeekkkk!!!! If only y’all could’ve been a fly on the wall watching us take these pix 🤦🏻‍♀️ We finally decided, after a million failed attempts with a tiny phone tripod perched on the hood of my car, to video and then screenshot the best moment. Genius Ab. GENIUS!!!

Ab and I have been daydreaming about this day for quite a few weeks now. #ad There’s something oddly satisfying about ripping things apart and throwing things away. Now all we need is a NAME for the new cabin. I still can’t decide! Would love to hear more ideas ❤️ Oh and don’t worry... I won’t be wearing my new @walmart outfit for the demo 😜 And one last thing... I’m sharing my latest @walmartfashion haul on the blog today as well as on stories in just a bit!
