Whew! The last two weeks have a been an equally crazy, hectic and fun whirlwind of a start to November. Let’s see… first we had Halloween. We will just say that it ended way better than it started. Winter is our second child. According to most of my friends, that pretty much sums it up. She battles us on everything, has a super hard headed personality, is definitely going through some terrible twos and to top it off, she’s so stinking cute that I just can’t help but laugh sometimes. Apparently that’s not the best way to handle her either. Oh well, you win some you lose some. The Halloween battle though I was determined to win. So, six time outs later, she was Anna…
As far as Winter’s big girl room, we have made some progress. Very, very slight progress but progress nonetheless. Her room got painted two weeks ago and yesterday the wallpaper was hung. I also purchased her bed earlier this week so once that comes in I will really get going on it. For all of the details and link to her big girl room project, see A Winter Wonderland. Here is the update so far… (oh and please excuse the hot mess)
On to bigger and crazier news, we have taken on another project. As I mentioned last week, my husband and I have purchased a second home. About nine years ago, we absolutely fell in love with a community in North GA called Big Canoe. It is like a city, a neighborhood and a mountain resort all in one. We had a home in there for several years and sold it when Addison was about one year old. I have never been the outdoorsy, mountain loving kind of girl but this city stole my heart. It is an absolutely huge community with over 2,000 homes ranging from $200k up to $2.5 million. There are three lakes, two pools, two restaurants, a 27-hole golf course, tennis courts, 22 miles of trails and a whole lot more. Along with some beautiful new constructions, there is a wide assortment of charming cabins that haven’t seen a new appliance or piece of furniture since 1975. Being the visionaries and project loving fools that we are, of course that is exactly what we wanted. We told our agent just that. We want something charming and ugly. Considering that I will want to re-do everything anyways, it only makes sense for us to buy something that needs some work. So, we fell in love with this 4 bedroom, 3 bath home in a great part of the community and we feel like we got a steal on this place! We close in early December and have HUGE plans for completely gutting, renovating and furnishing this cabin. My vision is Anthropoligie meets Aztec Chic. Wait, it gets better… Are you ready for it??? We are hoping to get it all done in ONE WEEK. Yes, let’s call it “Hayes Extreme Cabin Makeover”. AND I can’t WAIT to take you all along for the ride!
