Happy Hump Day! This blog post has been a WEE BIT in the making. LOL. I took my time a bit with this “little” project but I am so glad I did because I absolutely LOVE how it turned out!!! So let’s chat pantry… from construction to failed organization to a more moody vibes and (fingers crossed) new organizational methods that will actually work!!! First, here’s a few pictures of our pantry when we first renovated our historic home…

Organization Round One…
Pantry makeover round one was completed several years ago now and although I loved it at the time, it quite honestly did NOT last long whatsoever. I learned very quickly that decanting… is not for us. Small baskets… are not for us. And pretty vases and platters up high… nope! I don’t want to have to climb the pantry every single time I need something.
When it came time for me to want to try again at our pantry, it had looked about like this for quite some time. Yep, organization didn’t last long whatsoever! Plus, we added two more kiddos to the fam so mass food storage was a new MUST!
TODAY!
This time around I decided I also wanted a new look in addition to better organization. I am ALL ABOUT moody, rich colors thee days and I have been drooling over this gorgeous color INCHYRA BLUE by Farrow & Ball for a little while now. We had specced it for a design project a while back and I have been trying to work it into my home ever since. It is so beautiful and I love it paired with the warmth of the wood baskets.
So here’s what I think and hope will work for us this time… First, large labeled baskets. From rice to pasta and even ramen noodles, we have large baskets where we can all toss a box or bag with PLENTY of extra room. Next, organized baskets of canned goods. Before, I had them all in stacked racks so it was difficult to see what was in each one behind other cans. This time I separated them all from in different bins from spaghetti sauce to canned soup. Also, this time I made specific baskets for dumping boxes from breakfast bars to protein bars and fruit snacks. I guess you would slightly consider that decanting but this time the kiddos can easily grab a bar or a snack size bag without leaving an empty box in the pantry. And finally, just more storage! I probably at least tripled the amount of baskets and bins and further organized them into more specific categories from taco kits to salad toppings to spaghetti noodles. Now fingers crossed this time it will WORK!
Here it is TODAY!
