Our Statement Making Foyer Tour

What.  A.  Weekend.  If you haven’t read Sunday’s blog post, read it HERE and then pop back over…

Now that we are all up to speed, we can all agree that life (good or bad) can change in an instant.  Last Thursday, moving was so far from my mind that I would’ve laughed in your face if you had told me otherwise.  I quite possibly would’ve even committed you.  I mean, we have just now almost finished our renovations here!  However, I have to say that there are no words for how excited I am.  The bigger the project, the bigger the stars in my eyes.  Let’s just sum it up by saying our house has apparently been dubbed “the green monster”.  It’s a monster in size and a monster of a project.  You know what Mark and I say to that?  Bring.  It.  On.

For those of you that I promised a frame DIY to for today’s post (you know who you are), I PROMISE it is coming later this week.  I started it over the weekend but some “minor little things” took up most of our weekend.  You know, buying a house and all.  So that’s that but as for my blogging life, things will go on as normal.  Of course the new house will be added to my blogging schedule but I will still be doing a full and now final (sniff sniff) updated home tour and the other planned DIY’s and such.  So without further ado, here’s our completely updated foyer tour!

So as you can see, it was all a bit drab and let’s say “cookie cutter/builder grade” kinda style.  Basically the polar opposite of my style.  Nothing wrong with tan and white whatsoever, this girl just needs some color in her life!  The first thing I purchased for our foyer and actually our entire home was the chandelier.  This gorgeous turquoise color served as the inspiration for our entire main level.  From there I wanted to capture this color in a show stopping staircase project, read more and get the full tutorial on that HERE.  The ombre stairs bring the color down as a focal point and the ombre effect draws your eye up the stairs toward the ceiling.  I chose to accent the vaulted ceiling with a gold metallic paint, detailed HERE, which coordinates with these AMAZING gold driftwood sconces. The next big, fun project in this space was the stencil wall!  You can read more about that and get the full tutorial HERE.  I wanted a little pop of wow on that fun little angled wall and I have to admit that’s one of my prouder DIY moments.

After that it was all about the accessories!  I got super duper lucky at HomeGoods with the tables flanking the front doors, the cow head (my little “nod” to living on a “farm”), the vases on the front tables as well as some of the smaller accessories.  The rug was one of my last finds and it completely caps off the space!  Finally, the “Hello” prints at the doorway are my little obsession. If you are interested in purchasing these or any other Sugarboo Designs prints, simply e-mail me ([email protected]) and I can get you a great deal!

Needless to say, I am in love with our entryway.  It is me in every way possible and I love that it showcases  my style and love for color as soon as you enter our home.  So, welcome to our home!

Every room in your house inspires me! Thanks for sharing with us!

A few months ago you talked about where you order the photos of the girls. I believe you order them so they don’t need glass over the top. Loved the idea, but unfortunately did not bookmark it. And I have tried to go back in your blogs to find it, but have failed there too. Can you help a girl out? Thanks!

I am in love with every bit of this foyer! It’s the perfect amount of colors blended beautifully together. I especially love the fun wallpaper on the half wall. It’s gorgeous!

I have a chandelier question for you. I have one right when you open the front door, same one as you had(standard builders one) as well as one in my foyer. I really want to replace them. Should they be the same because they are in the same vacinity?
Cant wait to see what you do with the new house!!

No, absolutely not! I think different is fun and much more of a custom look. If they were symmetrical and together in some way like we have over our breakfast room table I would definitely say yes but I think you can change it up! I would keep a common theme though… the finish, the style… As long as they coordinate you are good. Thanks for reading!

Thank you so much for answering my question. The chandeliers are literally 6 steps away from each other. I would love to make a statement with them similar to your blue chandelier. The hunt is on.

I’d like to know more about the bull head, too! Did you embellish it? I searched HomeGoods, but didn’t see anything like it. Which is expected, I suppose. Would you share a more detailed photo of it?! Thank you for sharing all this loveliness!

No, it came exactly like that 🙂 HomeGoods just has random things so it’s sometimes difficult to find the same thing at another location. I purchased this almost two years ago. Thanks!

    Hi,

Your home is very inspiring! 🙂 Thanks for sharing your home with all of us. I have a question about your staircase. Did you use any protectant or sealant for the color? I have painted stairs in the past and the paint tends to get damaged from all the foot traffic. Andy advice or suggestions would be great. Thanks!

So….you put your monogram above the door. Are you the only one who lives in this house? I’m sorry but that is incredibly selfish and absurd. I don’t understand why people fee the need to monogram everything with their own initials. If it was your family’s last name initial ok but my God

Ummm… that is INCREDIBLY rude but yes, this is my family’s initials. It is most definitely not just my own personal initials. Thanks for your concern. XOXO

I agree with Cheryl. I am new to your blog and this was the first page I saw. I immediately thought the monogram above the door was your personal initials. I have seen it too many times that people are trying to be cute and monogram everything with personal initials and when its a shared space, it just doesn’t make sense to me.

When perusing antique malls for an old wood table When perusing antique malls for an old wood table becomes an album cover shopping trip turned gallery wall 💿 Ab and I spotted these fun, colorful covers while out one day and thought it just might be the perfect finishing touch in our historic fixer upper family room! With rose gold frames from @frameiteasy and a rather impromptu hanging method, this wall turned out to be the easiest, most colorful and fun project yet in our little brick cottage. P.S. Speaking of impromptu, John’s final addition looks rather staged but for Ab and I, we literally had NO CLUE it was coming and once Ab zoomed into the videos, we were dying 🤣🤣🤣 Oh John and his plants!
Ab here🖤… dropping in with a little update!! Ab here🖤… dropping in with a little update!! Watching old videos reminds me just how far this little house has come. My sweet dad helping me lay sub floor in the middle of summer after a long work day (which is just the TIP of the iceberg when it comes to the hours he put in on this house), the dance parties to keep from crying, and the bitter sweat memories of that year 💛 I have been DREAMING about this tub for quite some time, and @signaturehw brought all of those dreams to life. I’m just so stinking thankful. It is seriously the most beautiful tub I’ve ever seen... So much so that we have another gorgeous copper tub, from Signature, going in this week at a clients house! Where are my girls, who love a moody space, at???🙋🏼‍♀️🙋🏼‍♀️🖤
Let's chat hardwood flooring... beautiful, durable Let's chat hardwood flooring... beautiful, durable, pet friendly, kid approved, scratch-and-dent resistant, germ resistant, worry free and practically indestructible… hardwoods by @bruceflooring that have no added chemicals, are engineered for high traffic and have a commercial strength warranty. Yep, that option actually exists, and yes, it is made in the USA with 100% real hardwoods. For all of the reasons listed above, I chose #Dogwood Engineered Hardwoods by #BruceFlooring in Sattler White Oak for our historic renovation and they turned out STUNNING! *TAP TO SEE THE FAMILY ROOM RENOVATION PROGRESSION* After once joking that I needed a hardwood flooring color that matched Cheerios crumbs, I've kind of stuck with that color-selection motto ever since, and they never disappoint! Lighter hardwoods (like this Dogwood by Bruce in Sattler White Oak) hide all the crumbs while keeping spaces light, bright and airy, (even with dark wall colors). Today on the blog, I’m sharing many more images and even more details! #sponsored
Who else loves pizelles??? I’ll be honest, these Who else loves pizelles??? I’ll be honest, these are a more recent discovery since marrying into an Italian family but they were an instant hit! They’re a traditional Italian waffle cookie that’s super easy to make with a CucinaPro Piccolo Pizzelle Baker and they can also be made into so much more… from ice cream sandwiches to cannolis! John’s favorite dessert is cannolis and this makes them super easy to make while Winnie loves a good ice cream sandwich and Addie and I usually go for the chocolate dipped with powdered sugar 😋 They’re incredibly simple and look way more impressive than the actual skill level which is perfect for me! 😉 Mix it up, press them cooked in 50 seconds and BOOM! Sharing the recipe and a few of our favorites ways to prepare them. P.S. the @Cucina.Pro pizelle baker is available on Amazon and I’ve linked it in my bio!

Simple White Hallway… BROUGHT TO LIFE ♥️ Wha Simple White Hallway… BROUGHT TO LIFE ♥️ What if quite possibly one of the most forgotten spaces in your home could become pure magic?!? After quite literally carving out this hallway amongst bedrooms for the new floor plan we gave our historic fixer-upper, I knew I wanted to make the new archer hallway a STAR! It’s the center of the entire home and can be viewed from pretty much every single room. First was the installation of this incredibly beautiful mural by @belartestudio last week and then today the three pendants I spray painted over the weekend. Who knew a hallway could be my favorite space in a home! 🥰 Linking the mural and the pendants on stories tonight!
When you fall in love with a mural and it inspires When you fall in love with a mural and it inspires an entire home 😍… Yep, one look at this @belartestudio landscape mural and the color story for our historic fixer upper came to life! Add in the fact that wallpapering together is mine and Ab’s friendship love language and it’s the project of our design dreams ♥️ Seriously though, you have GOT to see all of the @belartestudio beauties. We’ve already used several of their papers in design projects (sneak peeks at one will be on stories tomorrow!) and I keep trying to invent a use for one in our home too. They’re all STUNNING!!! P.S. Ab and her sound effects were ON POINT for this one! 🙌🏻🤣🥰
If our kiddos formed a band and needed an album co If our kiddos formed a band and needed an album cover 😉 Back in 2021, Ab @abigailbradl3y “took our kiddos to dinner” but instead snuck in the most incredible surprise photo shoot as a wedding gift. The images by @brianingramphoto were beyond STUNNING and we finally got around to framing and hanging one of my very favorites. Two years later 🤦🏻‍♀️ A true work of art that I will absolutely cherish forever and ever! Especially considering three of our four are off to college in what feels like no time 😭 P.S. All of the vases and florals are from @addisonswonderlandboutique and I’ve detailed and linked everything on the blog! Happy Weekend 💗💗💗
Already making a jot list of all the things that’ll get your kiddos off their devices and out the front door this Summer? I packed four Gel Blasters for Spring Break and they were a HIT! Kinda sorta almost more than the beach 🤦🏻‍♀️ Not even kidding when I say I think they went through more than 30,000 Gellets. In seven days. We loved them so much I got y’all a link (linked in my bio) and a discount code (BRITTANY10)! P.S. The Gellets are non-toxic and start to dehydrate after contact. Believe me… I wouldn’t have chanced messing up the backyard of our Spring Break Airbnb if they didn’t disappear quickly! #gelblaster #goplay #GelBlasterPartner
