Happy 2018!!! Holy moly I have missed you guys!!! It has been exactly two weeks since I closed my laptop and put away my phone to enjoy the Holidays with my family and I cannot even tell you how amazing it has been. When sharing your life is literally your job, finding a balance between mommyhood, career life and housewife duties is sometimes a struggle. Well, honestly kind of always a struggle. Mark and I have always lived by the motto “work hard, play hard” when it comes to work and travel so I tend to apply that to my blog and design work as well. I told myself that I was going to work double-time for the first several weeks of December and then literally shut it all down for the Holidays. And that is exactly what I did. I even showed Addie my screen going black as I was turning off my phone and putting it away for the break.
So what have we been up to? Earlier this year Mark decided that he wanted to spend Christmas somewhere warm and sunny. Although we have made a tradition of spending Thanksgiving away, the idea of spending Christmas Day elsewhere took a little getting used to. Well for me, honestly a lot of getting used to. I truly thought Addie would be none too thrilled about the idea and totally have my back so we let her have the final say and apparently the girl loves to travel as much as we do! So two weeks ago today we packed our bags and flew to Miami for a 7-day cruise of the Caribbean. Mark and I have been on several cruises before but all were over a decade ago and long before our girlies were born. We chose our cruise based on the ports… St. Thomas, St. John and Tortola but they were completely changed after the devastating hurricanes that hit those areas earlier this year. It’s so sad to think about what those beautiful ports and islands look like today. Instead our boat stopped in Mexico, Jamaica, Grand Cayman and the Bahamas. And we truly had THE BEST TIME. Being technology-free made it that much more fun plus I swore to my family that I would not take a single picture. And I stuck true to my promise! It was 100% family for 11 straight days. After we arrived back in Miami on Saturday, we then rented a car and drove to Orlando to take Addie to Harry Potter Land. We had given this “leg of our Holiday adventure” to her for her birthday and she was pumped! So much so that we arrived at Universal Studios at 7:45am on New Years Eve and her and Mark literally closed down the park at 1am!!! I wiped out several hours prior but that girl was on a serious Harry Potter high and got the absolute full Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley experience. As part of my technology-free Holiday, I decided to not blog our travels as I normally would but I can promise you that there will be LOTS more to share in 2018!
Today is back to reality. The girls started back to school today and I am popping in to say hello and share a HUGE SALE. The break was so fabulous that I have decided to spend another week or two getting caught up on life so this is kind of my “yes I am alive and well” blog post. Mark and I have SOOO much going on in 2018 that I decided to spend a couple more weeks getting organized around the house and caught up on projects before I dive back in the blogging craziness. I spent yesterday emptying our entire kitchen and storage areas to de-clutter and re-organize while today I am tackling the playroom with lots of trash bags. A job that can only be done while the kiddos are away. LOL! This morning I planned out the entire new second level of our flip house and tomorrow I am headed up to our cabin to see all of the new flooring and meet the painters and get them started on the renovation. Lots to look forward to in 2018! Thanks for popping in today and I hope that you all had the most wonderful Christmas and start to 2018!!! See you in two more weeks! XOXO
