The Rug and The Review…
Starting a blog kind of fell into my lap. Last summer I knew I was taking a break from designing bedding for the former “Addison’s Wonderland” and I knew that I loved sharing our home remodel on social media. What I didn’t expect was allllll the questions. I absolutely love and am completely flattered by it, I just honestly didn’t expect it! I was so sad about leaving the design world for a little while and I thought hmmm… blogging would be a great little outlet for me to share what I love, answer all of your questions and continue Addison’s Wonderland in a new form and fashion. So today I am using my blog for just that. Answering one of my most asked, e-mailed and messaged questions ever. Like ever ever.
Where did you get your living room rug and do you like it?
First of all, I absolutely love this rug. It’s the perfect neutral yet patterned rug that coordinates with everything. I love the light cream/white background, charcoal gray lines and the thick shag pile. No matter how many times I change up our pillows, it all still works.
Secondly, it is honestly not that difficult for us to keep clean. Mind you, I do have two house rules… 1. No shoes in the house! We do live on a “farm” so shoes get quite dirty so I have shoe baskets on every porch for easy shoe throwing. 2. No food or drink except Cheerios, Cheez Its and sippy cups anywhere but the kitchen, breakfast room and dining room. Let’s be honest. Our breakfast room table is DIRECTLY behind the sofa. Mickey might appear about 1″ smaller but I think my kiddos will survive. Given that crumbs are about the only thing that “spills” in our living room, it honestly hasn’t gotten stained. Even the Cheez It crumbs fall into the great shag abyss and I don’t realize how plentiful they are until the vacuum cleaner sounds like a tornado.
Next, it does shed worse than a long-haired German Shepard… for a couple of weeks. I was ready to break up with the rug, burn it, and then throw it away for about two weeks. Like holy cow the fuzz balls everywhere. BUT, it does stop shedding and now it honestly does not shed anymore. At all. Whatsoever.
Oh and ours is 9′ x 12′!

do you do a rug on top of a carpeted floor?
As always, thank you Brittany for being so generous to share your decor sources with us! I also really appreciate the details and feedback with all of your posts – this really helps so much. Your home is gorgeous and I keep reading your blog because your amazing personality really shines through. Thank you for answering our questions. Now, the only one I have left – may you please share the details of your 100lb weight loss before Winter? That is such a HUGE success story and I’d love to hear how you did it and the healthy habits you maintain to keep it off. As a new mom, your story is inspiring!
Thank you for this review! I am considering this rug for our bedroom. This convinces me it’s perfect! Did you notice it had a smell? Like a musty or chemical smell?
By the way, I have the same “no shoes in the house” rule! Thankfully my friends and family are so accustomed to this that I don’t even have to remind them. I have babies crawling around and one glance at the toxins shoes drag into a house (lead poisoning, anyone?!) nevermind the MESS is enough to make wearing your shoes into my house pretty much the worse offenses a person can commit against me! It sounds dramatic but it’s a big deal to me!
