It is FALLLLLLL!!! Okay maybe not officially quite yet BUT this weekend’s North Georgia weather was seriously drool worthy. I sat on the back porch of #ourwildernesswonderland with a blanket most of the weekend and that calls for some celebration. What does not call for celebration however is the changing weather that has led to hurricane season. I just cannot even put into words how much I feel for everyone who was affected by Hurricane Harvey. Mark and the girls and I have said lots and lots of prayers for those who have lost family, friends, pets, their homes, their vehicles and even just their normal daily life. It just seems unfathomable. And to think that there is another storm on it’s tail is enough to make me want to move way way way north. I also just learned last night of the wildfires in Oregon and just want to say that is another area on our prayer list. Literally one of the most beautiful areas in the world is on fire and my heart breaks for everyone dealing with that craziness right now as well. Serious prayers going out for our entire world. So much hurt and sadness and pain and fear. Now for our traditional Fall foyer decorating ideas with World Market!
Writing about anything decor related right now seems so trivial to me at this point. I wrote on social media Friday about how I have just had a heavy heart lately… about my girls growing up, the business and craziness of life and I think just everything going in the world right now as well. It has all affected me more than I realized. I am sure it has affected us all in some way whether we maybe realize it or not. Just feeling so BLAHHHH for the last couple of weeks. I find myself not even wanting to turn on the television for fear of what is going on in the world now. However, life does go on. Somehow and in some way we all continue our lives and for me that includes interior design and blogging and home decor. Creativity has always been my passion and my escape and I love being able to give you all a little inspiration escape as well.
So today I am chatting about our foyer. It is honestly the trickiest little space in our entire home. It is “big” enough that it needs something yet small enough that barely anything will fit. Between the huge front door and the staircase, there is only a sliver of space for furnishings and decor. I think I have literally tried five different pieces and nothing seems to look quite right. Most things block the window too much yet placing nothing there always seems so incomplete. So this space has just been chilling. For almost a year now with a random assortment of things coming and going as I find new spots for them. Our Historic Wonderland is our fourth home together and also the fourth home we have moved into without a dang thing. Every single home we have sold has sold furnished, even though we never list them that way, so we start all over again. Every single time. Which is super fun for someone like me but also a little slower and more work than I like at times.
This week I finally decided to start tackling our foyer! I teamed up with one of my very faves, World Market, to begin “mission finish our foyer” AND even give it a little touch of Fall as well. World Market just released their Fall Guide with soooo many cute things for really any time of year! Some of my very favorite pieces are in their Shop By Room: Fall Collection section and include some vintage looking pieces that I LOVE!!! In that section, I fell in love with this cute little gold accent table that seemed the perfect size for our little foyer nook. I then ordered a wicker chair from their Decor & Pillows section that I have had my eye on for quite a while now as well as a velvet lumbar pillow that is the perfect rich Fall into the Holidays color. Still lots to do from window treatments to a rug but making progress slowly but surely… Here is a peek at the progress on our foyer and a peek at a little of our Fall decor!
