AW Interiors

Warm & Cozy Living Room Design in Missouri…

Good afternoon!!! OMG I can’t even believe it… sharing our very first mood boards for our very first AW Interiors project… a SUPER dreamy living room design in Missouri! Two weeks ago, I announced that I had finally pulled the trigger on something I have wanted to do forever and ever and ever now… start a division of Addison’s Wonderland for INTERIOR DESIGN. Yep, starting a design firm has been on my mind for at least the last seventeen years. I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Interior Design way back in 2005 but hopped right into the kitchen/bath company we’d started in college and never fully saw through my desire to design. I’ve absolutely gotten the chance to design a ton over the years through several personal homes and blog projects and showhomes and such but I’ve never fully been able to “take on clients”… UNTIL NOW!

Two weeks ago I announced the start of AW design and we became absolutely FLOODED with inquiries and appointments. So so so so thankful. I eat, sleep, BREATHE interior design and getting the chance to do so on a larger scale now is such a dream come true. We have seven projects in the works right now and this first one is the home of one of the sweetest women on Earth. She has followed me on IG forever and we’ve chatted back and forth on DM’s a ton. She reached out about her living/breakfast/kitchen areas wanting them to feel cozy, warm and inviting. She wanted to infuse some AW color, pattern and texture to make it finally feel like home and we were definitely up for the challenge! I mean how GORGEOUS is this space?!? First here’s a peek at the space BEFORE as well as an image we “virtually painted”…

For the walls, I chose Alabaster for it’s bright white feel but also for it’s ever so slight touch of warmth. Whites can actually be sooo difficult to select because shockingly there are SO MANY but I felt this would be the perfect way to brighten up the space and do away with the “muddy feeling” of the brown on brown on grey.

Next, she was up for a little wallpaper so I chose a GORGEOUS print for the two walls in the breakfast area. I thought this would be a great way to break up sooo much wall space and to really warm up that nook while also visually separating it from the living room. Sometimes it can be difficult to make such a big space feel cozy and inviting so visually separating the two can be an excellent way to create that feel. From there, I chose a grouping of ottomans in different colors and textures as well as a fun rug to create layers of furnishings that will further fill the space and give her that “at home” feeling she was so desperately wanting for her home. A good mix of textiles and natural finishes is the best way to create interest and create warmth. Opposite the kitchen is a large blank wall with a TV so for that wall we chose a beautiful wood buffet that adds further warmth and texture along with two open arm wood chairs that nicely contrast the bulky sectional they are wanting to keep. We have started playing around with some inspiration for a gallery wall around the TV as well but all of that is still in the works. We came up with two initial plans to get the design ball rolling since we do our design work in phases so here’s a peek at the beginnings of this re-design…
